Qualifications:

DM/DrNB/Fellowship in Paediatric Haemato Oncology

Valid National Medical Council (NMC) / West Bengal Medical Council Registration

Purpose of the Position:

To provide comprehensive diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care for children with blood disorders and childhood cancers while ensuring secure, ethical, evidence-based medical practice in accordance with NABH standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Services

Diagnose and manage paediatric haematological disorders and childhood malignancies.

Evaluate new and follow-up patients in OPD, IPD, ICU, and Emergency.

Formulate individualized treatment plans.

Manage oncological emergencies.

2. Clinical Procedures (As per Privileges)

Perform Bone Marrow Aspiration and Bone Marrow Biopsy.

Perform Intrathecal Chemotherapy and Lumbar Puncture.

Prescribe and supervise Chemotherapy Administration.

Perform sedation for bone marrow procedures/biopsy .

Perform emergency intubation and airway management.

Provide life-saving emergency care.

3. Inpatient Care

Daily ward rounds.

Monitor treatment response and complications.

Coordinate multidisciplinary management.

Maintain complete medical records.

4. Emergency Care

Manage febrile neutropenia, tumour lysis syndrome, sepsis, bleeding disorders, severe anaemia, and oncological emergencies.

Provide Paediatric Life Support (PLS/PALS).

5. Chemotherapy Services

Verify chemotherapy protocols.

Ensure safe chemotherapy prescribing.

Monitor adverse drug reactions.





Coordinate with Pharmacy and Nursing.

6. Academic Activities

Conduct teaching sessions.

Train residents, nurses, and interns.

Participate in CME and departmental meetings.

7. Research

Participate in clinical research and clinical audits.

Maintain research documentation.

Publish and present scientific work where applicable.

8. Quality & NABH Compliance

Follow NABH standards and hospital policies.

Report clinical incidents.

Ensure infection prevention and patient safety practices.

9. Documentation

Maintain accurate patient records.

Complete consent forms.

Document procedures and chemotherapy orders.

Ensure timely discharge summaries.

10. Communication

Counsel parents and caregivers.

Explain diagnosis, prognosis, treatment options, and risks.

Participate in multidisciplinary tumour board discussions.

Airway management and intubation

Management of paediatric oncological emergencies
