Estimation Engineer calculates the total cost of materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors needed to execute engineering and construction projects. They play a vital role in project planning by analyzing blueprints and tender documents to produce accurate cost estimates, competitive bids, and feasibility reports.Key ResponsibilitiesTender & Bid Preparation: Review blueprints, project specifications, and tender documents to determine the exact scope of work.Quantity Take-offs: Measure and extract accurate quantities from technical drawings to create a detailed Bill of Quantities (BOQ).Cost Analysis: Calculate costs for raw materials, manpower, equipment usage, overheads, and profit margins.Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Float inquiries, collect and compare vendor quotations, and negotiate pricing and technical terms.Value Engineering:
Suggest cost-saving alternatives and design changes while maintaining structural integrity and client budgets.Documentation: Maintain accurate historical cost databases, maintain ISO compliance, and prepare risk registers.Essential RequirementsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering (depending on the industry).Technical Skills: Proficiency in drafting and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD), specialized estimating tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), and advanced MS Excel.Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of construction methods, material pricing, labor rates, and safety regulations.Analytical Abilities: Strong mathematical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex technical data.
