Estimation Engineer evaluates project requirements, drawings, and specifications to calculate the total costs of materials, labor, and equipment. They play a critical role in the pre-construction or manufacturing phase by preparing accurate Bills of Quantities (BOQ), developing competitive bids, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to ensure project profitability.Key ResponsibilitiesTender & Bid Preparation: Analyze tender documents, blueprints, and client requirements to formulate comprehensive cost estimates and proposals.Quantity Take-offs: Perform detailed material take-offs to accurately assess and compile the quantities needed for the project.Vendor & Subcontractor Management: Float inquiries, evaluate supplier quotations, and negotiate commercial and technical terms to source the best rates.Cost Analysis: Maintain updated databases of pricing structures, labor rates, and overheads.



Adjust figures based on current market trends and historical project data.Risk & Value Engineering: Conduct risk assessments, suggest cost-reduction alternatives (value engineering), and set contingency margins.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and design teams to align estimated budgets with final execution strategies.Essential QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Construction Engineering.Software Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard estimating and project management tools like MS Excel, AutoCAD, and specialized takeoff software.Analytical Skills: Robust mathematical abilities and a meticulous eye for detail to spot discrepancies in project scopes.Communication: Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to present cost reports clearly to upper management and clients.
