Job Title: Director – Cost Engineering (Plastics)
Experience: 10–15+ Years
Location: Bengaluru, India (Work From Office) / Austin, Texas

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Director – Cost Engineering (Plastics) to lead the Plastic Cost Engineering function for an AI-driven manufacturing cost optimization platform. The ideal candidate should possess extensive expertise in plastic manufacturing processes, cost estimation methodologies, tooling, material costing, and value engineering across multiple industries.
This leadership role will drive the development, calibration, and automation of the Plastic Cost Engineering module while working closely with product, engineering, customers, and cross-functional teams to deliver accurate costing solutions and strategic insights.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Define and execute the cost engineering strategy for Plastic manufacturing processes.
- Lead and mentor a global team of Cost Engineers, providing technical guidance and leadership.
- Drive customer engagements and ensure timely delivery of cost engineering initiatives.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, Sales, and Customer Success teams.
- Support product innovation and continuous enhancement of the Plastic Cost Engineering module.
Cost Engineering & Analysis
- Develop accurate cost models for various plastic manufacturing processes.
- Perform should-cost analysis and total cost evaluations.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, tooling costs, cycle times, material consumption, and production efficiencies.
- Identify cost reduction opportunities through Value Analysis (VA) and Value Engineering (VE).
- Recommend alternative materials, manufacturing processes, and design improvements.

Process Improvement
- Establish cost engineering best practices.
- Improve costing accuracy through automation and standardization.
- Enhance productivity and operational efficiency within the costing platform.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Plastic Cost Engineering function.
Industry & Market Analysis
- Monitor market trends, raw material pricing, manufacturing technologies, and supply chain dynamics.
- Evaluate macroeconomic and microeconomic factors impacting plastic manufacturing costs.
- Provide strategic recommendations based on market intelligence.
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Plastic Cost Engineering.

Required Experience
- 10–15+ years of experience in Cost Engineering.
- Extensive experience in Plastic manufacturing and costing.
- Solid expertise across multiple plastic manufacturing processes.
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or people management experience.
- Experience developing cost models and costing methodologies.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and shop floor processes.
- Experience collaborating with global engineering and cross-functional teams.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, or a related field.
- Master's Degree is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with AI-enabled manufacturing or cost engineering platforms.
- Knowledge of supply chain optimization and procurement costing.
- Familiarity with ASME, ASTM, ISO, and other manufacturing standards.
- Experience in manufacturing digital transformation initiatives.
