Republic Bangla is looking for a dynamic and experienced Digital Editor (Senior News Editor) to lead our digital newsroom and drive impactful, audience-first journalism across web, mobile, and social media platforms. The ideal candidate should have strong editorial judgment, excellent leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the digital news ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the Digital News Desk, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging news coverage.

- Plan and execute the daily digital editorial strategy in alignment with the channels news priorities.

- Oversee breaking news coverage across the website, mobile platforms, and social media.

- Edit, publish, and optimize news stories, live blogs, explainers, and multimedia content.

- Coordinate closely with the Input, Output, TV Editorial, Social Media, Video, Graphics, and SEO teams.

- Drive audience growth through SEO, Google Discover, social media optimization, and real-time analytics.

- Monitor digital performance metrics and implement content strategies to improve traffic and engagement.

- Ensure high standards of editorial accuracy, ethics, compliance, and fact-checking.

- Mentor and develop the digital editorial team while maintaining newsroom productivity and quality.





- Identify trending stories, exclusive opportunities, and creative digital content formats.

Eligibility

- Bachelors or Masters degree in Journalism, Mass Communication, Digital Media, or a related discipline.

- 8-15 years of experience in digital journalism, with significant experience in editorial leadership.

- Proven experience managing a digital newsroom for a news organization.

- Strong understanding of SEO, Google Trends, Google Discover, web analytics, social media publishing, and digital audience behaviour.

- Excellent news judgment, copy-editing, headline writing, and storytelling skills.

- Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management abilities.

Preferred Skills

- Experience working in a television news channel with integrated digital operations.

- Ability to lead breaking news operations in a fast-paced 24 7 newsroom.

- Strong understanding of West Bengal politics.
