The Opportunity

Exp 8 to 10 years. We are seeking a senior AWS cloud and DevSecOps leader to own the architecture, engineering, security, reliability and operational performance of the cloud platforms supporting Scitara DLX and customer environments. This is a middle-management role combining deep technical authority with people leadership, service delivery accountability and customer-facing ownership.

This is not a coordination-only position. The successful candidate will remain technically credible and hands-on where it matters—architecture reviews, critical production incidents, security decisions, complex deployments, proof-of-concepts and engineering standards—while building a high-performing team and scalable operating model.

Role mandate: Build and operate a secure, reliable, cost-conscious and audit-ready AWS platform while increasing deployment velocity, engineering maturity, customer confidence and team capability.

Key Accountabilities

1. AWS Cloud Architecture & Platform Strategy

• Own the target architecture and multi-year roadmap for AWS infrastructure supporting Scitara DLX and customer deployments. • Define reusable reference architectures, landing-zone patterns, guardrails and engineering standards across development, test, qualification and production environments.

• Architect highly available, scalable and resilient workloads using appropriate AWS services, availability-zone strategies, backup, recovery and failover patterns.

• Lead architecture reviews and make pragmatic trade-off decisions across security, reliability, performance, operability, cost and delivery timelines.

• Evaluate emerging AWS and cloud-native capabilities and convert relevant technologies into practical platform improvements.

1. DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code & Release Engineering

• Own CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and GitOps strategy for repeatable, traceable and low-risk infrastructure and application deployments. • Establish engineering standards for Terraform modules, versioning, code review, environment promotion, secrets handling, artifact management and deployment approvals.

• Improve deployment frequency, lead time, change success rate and rollback capability through automation, progressive delivery and standardized release patterns.

• Drive policy-as-code, automated compliance checks, configuration drift detection and security controls within delivery pipelines.

• Introduce AI-assisted engineering and AIOps capabilities where they measurably improve productivity, troubleshooting, documentation or operational decision-making.

1. Kubernetes, EKS & Cloud-Native Operations

• Provide technical ownership for Amazon EKS and Kubernetes platform design, cluster lifecycle management, upgrades, scaling, networking, workload security and day-two operations. • Define standards for container images, registries, runtime security, ingress, service discovery, resource governance, autoscaling and workload isolation.

• Ensure EKS workloads are observable, recoverable, cost-efficient and aligned with production reliability requirements.

• Lead root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions for complex platform and application issues involving Kubernetes, networking, storage, identity or distributed systems.

1. Cloud Security, Compliance & Risk Management

• Own cloud security architecture and operating controls across IAM, network segmentation, encryption,

key management, secrets management, logging, vulnerability management and threat detection. • Establish least-privilege access, privileged-access governance, account-level guardrails, secure baselines and periodic access reviews.

• Lead vulnerability assessment and penetration-testing coordination, remediation prioritization and closure tracking.

• Partner with Security, QA and CSV teams to maintain audit readiness and ensure technical controls and evidence support regulated customer expectations.

• Assess cloud and deployment risks, document decisions and ensure remediation plans have clear owners, priorities and completion criteria.

1. Site Reliability, Observability & Service Operations

• Define and improve the operating model for monitoring, observability, alerting, incident response, problem management, capacity management and service reporting. • Establish meaningful service indicators, objectives and operational metrics covering availability, latency, error rates, saturation, recovery and customer impact.

• Lead major incident response, executive and customer communications, post-incident reviews and verification of corrective and preventive actions.

• Own disaster recovery and business continuity readiness, including recovery objectives, architecture, runbooks, testing and lessons learned.

• Reduce recurring operational effort through automation, self-healing patterns, improved diagnostics and elimination of known failure modes.

1. FinOps, Capacity & Vendor Management

• Drive cloud cost transparency, tagging discipline, budgets, forecasting, resource rightsizing and usage optimization without compromising validated or production requirements. • Review material AWS consumption trends and identify opportunities across architecture, purchasing models, storage lifecycle, autoscaling and environment scheduling.

• Support annual planning, resource and budget management for cloud platform engineering and related tooling.

• Manage technical relationships with AWS, implementation partners and critical platform vendors, including escalations and roadmap discussions.

1. Customer Delivery & Cross-Functional Leadership

• Provide technical leadership for new customer deployments, upgrades, platform migrations, connector rollouts and complex environment changes. • Act as the senior technical escalation point for cloud, infrastructure, deployment and operational issues affecting customers or strategic programs.

• Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, QA, CSV, Security, Support, PMO and Customer Success to align architecture and delivery decisions.

• Participate in customer workshops, solution reviews, audits, risk discussions and executive-level technical communications.

• Translate business and regulatory needs into clear technical requirements, delivery plans, risks, dependencies and acceptance criteria.

1. People Leadership & Engineering Excellence

• Lead, coach and develop cloud, DevOps and platform engineers through clear goals,

regular feedback, technical mentorship and structured development plans. • Build capability in AWS architecture, Kubernetes, automation, security, SRE, documentation and customer-facing problem solving.

• Set expectations for ownership, engineering quality, operational discipline, collaboration and continuous learning.

• Plan team capacity, assign accountable owners, manage priorities and balance project delivery with platform sustainability and technical debt reduction.

- Create succession depth and reduce dependency on individual experts by standardizing knowledge, runbooks, architecture decisions and operating procedures.

Required Experience & Qualifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.

• 10+ years of progressive experience in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, platform engineering, SRE or infrastructure engineering.

• At least 6 years of substantial production experience on AWS, including architecture and operational ownership of business-critical environments.

• Proven ownership of complex AWS implementations, platform modernization, cloud migration or large-scale production operations.

• Strong hands-on experience with Amazon EKS / Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD automation, AWS networking, IAM, observability and production troubleshooting.

• Experience designing highly available and secure systems, disaster recovery approaches and operational controls for customer-facing platforms.

• Experience leading major incidents, root-cause analysis and cross-functional remediation programs.

• Solid written and verbal communication with the ability to influence engineers, managers, customers, auditors and senior stakeholders.

• Evidence of sound technical judgement, disciplined execution and the ability to balance immediate delivery needs with long-term platform health.

Preferred Experience

• Experience supporting SaaS, enterprise integration platforms, laboratory informatics or data-intensive scientific applications.

• Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, medical-device or other regulated environments.

• Working knowledge of GxP expectations, 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, computer system validation and audit-ready technical documentation.

• Experience with multi-account AWS governance, AWS Organizations, landing zones, service control policies and centralized security or observability services.

• Experience implementing FinOps practices and influencing architecture or usage decisions using cloud cost and consumption data.

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, Certified Kubernetes Administrator or equivalent credentials.

- • Experience managing external partners, cloud vendors, budgets and technology roadmaps.

Role Fit This opportunity is best suited to a leader who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, building strong engineering teams and operating platforms where security, data integrity, reliability and customer trust are non-negotiable. The role offers the breadth to influence cloud architecture, delivery practices, operational maturity and the future direction of a differentiated scientific integration platform.
