Mashup.in is looking for a creative and commercially aware Kidswear Designer & Merchandiser to work on the development of our boyswear and babywear collections.

The role will involve taking products from concept and inspiration to final production , while ensuring that the designs are fashionable, commercially viable and suitable for the kidswear market.

The ideal candidate should understand fabrics, colours, trims, garment construction, trends and product development, while also being comfortable coordinating with sampling and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Research kidswear, fashion and colour trends
- Develop seasonal concepts, mood boards and collection ideas
- Design complete kidswear outfits and coordinated sets
- Work on shirts, T-shirts, bottoms, cargos, denims, jackets, co-ord sets, ethnic wear and other kidswear categories
- Develop colourways, prints, embroidery, patches and other design details
- Create sketches, tech packs and specification sheets
- Select suitable fabrics, trims, buttons, labels and accessories
- Work closely with sampling teams to develop prototypes
- Conduct sample fittings and suggest corrections
- Ensure the final garment matches the approved design and fit
- Coordinate with production, sourcing and merchandising teams
- Follow up on samples, fabrics, trims and production timelines
- Develop commercially viable products keeping target price points in mind




- Study competitor products and identify new product opportunities
- Assist in assortment planning and collection building
- Maintain collection sheets, sampling trackers and product development records
- Work closely with management on new product development
- Use AI and digital tools for design ideation, visualisation and faster product development

What We’re Looking For
- Strong understanding of kidswear and garment design
- Good knowledge of fabrics, trims and garment construction
- Strong sense of colour, styling and product coordination
- Understanding of commercial fashion and market trends
- Ability to develop products from concept to production
- Comfortable working with sampling and production teams
- Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or similar design software
- Knowledge of tech packs and garment specifications
- Good communication and follow-up skills
- Ability to manage multiple styles and collections simultaneously

Preferred Profile
- Fashion Design / Apparel Design / Textile Design background
- Prior experience in kids wear is preferred
- Designers with merchandising or product-development experience are highly encouraged to apply
- Freshers with a strong portfolio and good technical understanding may also be considered
