: AM - Cost and Inventory
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to manage and oversee cost and inventory accounting activities. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience with ERP systems, and a solid understanding of costing concepts. This role requires collaboration across finance, supply chain, and IT teams to ensure accurate reporting, compliance with US GAAP, and support for business decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle cost and inventory activities, including PPV (purchase price variance), freight accruals, inventory reserves, capitalized variances, and absorption costing.
- Perform monthly close activities for COGS and inventory valuation; reconcile sub-ledger to general ledger and analyze/explain variances.
- Maintain item costing data, cost components (material, labor, and overhead), and related GL mappings; ensure accuracy and alignment with US GAAP and company internal policies.
- Manage costing methods for items (Standard Cost, Actual Cost, Moving Average); configure cost rollups and variance tracking.
- Validate and cleanse master data (items, BOMs, routings, suppliers, primary data attributes) to ensure accurate cost and inventory reporting.
- Develop and maintain reports/dashboards on inventory health, gross margin by product, cost variances, turnover metrics, stockouts, and obsolescence.
- Conduct regular analysis of inventory valuation and cost components to identify opportunities for optimization and cost control.
- Support internal and external audits by providing data, explanations,
and process narratives related to costing and inventory.
- Collaborate with IT/Analytics on data models, data quality initiatives, and BI/reporting requirements.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations related to inventory and cost accounts.
- Must be a team player and eager to learn.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Baan, Lawason, Mapics, OneStream or similar).
- Solid understanding of costing concepts and inventory valuation methods.
- Strong analytical skills; proficient in Excel (lookups, pivot tables, dashboards) with working knowledge of SQL or other data-query tools; BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) a plus.
- Knowledge of costing methods (Standard, Actual, Moving Average) and inventory valuation concepts.
- Familiarity with BOMs, routing, cycle counting, and reconciliation.
- Excellent attention to detail; ability to translate data into actionable insights.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Work Model: Hybrid (3 Days in the office during the 2nd and 3rd weeks of each month, with remote work (WFH) during the 1st and 4th weeks)

- Shifts: Adaptable shift timings; willingness to work in shifts as required by business needs (Month ending Night Shift )
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting and CA/CMA/ CPA.
- 8to 15 years of experience in cost accounting, inventory management, or manufacturing finance.
- Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS inventory standards and internal controls related to costing and inventory.
- Exposure to multi-site/global inventory and cost analysis.
