Role Overview The candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of distressed borrowers and assisting them throughout the debt-resolution process.

The role requires a combination of legal knowledge, negotiation skills, client management and strong follow-up capabilities.

The candidate should be comfortable analysing multiple loan accounts, understanding the client's financial position, communicating with lenders and negotiating practical settlement solutions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Client Case Assessment

- Understand the client's financial situation, outstanding liabilities and repayment capacity.
- Review loan agreements, sanction letters, statements of account, repayment schedules, legal notices and other relevant documents.
- Analyse the client's outstanding obligations across multiple lenders.
- Prepare a case summary highlighting the client's overall debt position and potential resolution strategy.
- Identify legal notices, litigation risks and urgent accounts requiring immediate attention.

1. Lender Coordination & Settlement Negotiation

- Communicate with banks, NBFCs, fintech lenders, collection agencies and their representatives on behalf of clients.
- Initiate and manage settlement discussions with lenders.
- Negotiate One-Time Settlement (OTS), restructuring or other mutually acceptable resolution options, wherever appropriate.
- Work towards obtaining commercially viable settlement terms for clients.
- Negotiate settlement amounts, payment timelines and closure conditions.
- Follow up with lenders until settlement terms are formally confirmed.

1. Legal Communication

- Draft and review correspondence to lenders, collection agencies and legal representatives.
- Assist clients in responding appropriately to legal notices and recovery communications.
- Draft settlement proposals, representation letters, responses and other legal communications.




- Review notices received under applicable recovery/legal processes and identify appropriate next steps.
- Coordinate with external advocates wherever litigation or specialized legal intervention is required.

1. Debt Resolution Strategy

- Develop an account-wise resolution strategy for clients having multiple creditors.
- Prioritize accounts based on outstanding amount, legal status, lender actions and client's available settlement capacity.
- Maintain a structured negotiation strategy for each lender.
- Track offers received from lenders and recommend suitable options to the client.
- Ensure that settlement decisions are properly documented and communicated to the client.

1. Client Management

- Act as a primary point of contact for assigned clients.
- Explain the debt-resolution process, expected timelines and documentation requirements clearly.
- Keep clients updated regarding lender negotiations and developments.
- Manage client expectations regarding settlement outcomes.
- Maintain professionalism and empathy while dealing with financially distressed clients.
- Escalate sensitive, high-risk or legally complex matters to senior management/legal counsel.

1. Settlement Closure & Documentation

- Obtain and verify settlement letters / settlement confirmation from lenders.
- Ensure agreed settlement amounts and payment timelines are accurately documented.
- Follow up for payment confirmation and account closure.




- Obtain relevant No Due Certificate / No Objection Certificate / closure documentation, wherever applicable.
- Maintain complete records of the resolution process for every lender/account.
- Update internal case-management systems and trackers regularly.

1. Legal & Regulatory Awareness

- Stay updated on applicable laws, regulations and judicial developments relating to debt recovery, lending, contracts and borrower rights.
- Ensure client communication and debt-resolution activities are conducted in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Avoid making misleading commitments regarding settlement outcomes or legal proceedings.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client financial and personal information.

Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate should have:
- LLB degree with 24 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in debt resolution, banking/NBFC legal work, recovery law, litigation, consumer finance or dispute resolution.
- Strong legal drafting and documentation skills.
- Robust negotiation and persuasion abilities.
- Good understanding of loan agreements, repayment structures and default/recovery processes.
- Ability to analyse multiple loan accounts simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong follow-up and case-management capabilities.
- Ability to deal professionally with lenders, advocates, collection agencies and distressed clients.
- Commercial understanding of settlement negotiations.

Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates who have worked with:
- Debt settlement / debt resolution firms
- Banking or NBFC legal departments
- Recovery law firms
- Consumer finance / digital lending companies
- Loan collection / recovery teams
- Legal notice and dispute-resolution practices
- Arbitration / civil recovery matters
- Banking and financial services litigation
