Role & responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Database Migration Consultant to lead and execute enterprise-scale DB2 migration engagements for our clients. The ideal candidate has deep, hands-on expertise migrating IBM DB2 databases (LUW and/or z/OS) to up-to-date target platforms, and brings additional experience with Oracle and/or Teradata migrations as a strong plus. This is a client-facing, delivery-focused role suited to someone who can own technical migration strategy end-to-end from assessment through cutover and post-migration validation.

Preferred candidate profile

- Lead assessment and discovery of legacy DB2 environments (schemas, stored procedures, triggers, jobs, ETL dependencies, data volumes) to scope migration effort and risk
- Design and execute migration strategies for DB2 target platforms (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Teradata, or cloud-native databases), including schema conversion, data type mapping, and SQL/PL-SQL/SQL PL translation
- Build and tune ETL/data pipelines for bulk data migration, incremental sync, and cutover,



ensuring data integrity and minimal downtime
- Convert and optimize stored procedures, triggers, views, and batch jobs from DB2 SQL PL (and where applicable, Oracle PL/SQL or Teradata BTEQ/SQL) to the target platform's dialect
- Perform data validation and reconciliation between source and target systems (row counts, checksums, business-rule validation)
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks pre- and post-migration (indexing strategy, partitioning, query optimization)
- Partner with client stakeholders, DBAs, and application teams to plan cutover windows, rollback strategies, and go-live support
- Document migration methodology, technical decisions, and runbooks for client handoff
- Where applicable, leverage Codehive's internal migration accelerator tooling to reduce manual conversion effort and improve delivery timelines
- Mentor junior team members on DB2 migration best practices
