Lead Data Scientist – Product, Experimentation & AI

About the role

We are looking for an exceptionally sharp, analytical and commercially minded Lead Data Scientist to join our team.

You will work on high-impact projects across product, marketing and growth, helping fast-moving businesses make better decisions through advanced analytics, experimentation and causal inference.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced data scientist who can take an ambiguous business problem, structure it clearly, conduct rigorous analysis and translate the findings into practical recommendations. You should be equally comfortable writing complex SQL, developing analysis in Python and communicating conclusions to senior stakeholders.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have worked within leading technology companies, high-growth businesses, digital platforms or respected analytics and consulting organisations.

Key responsibilities

- Lead complex data science and advanced analytics projects from problem definition through to final recommendation.
- Analyse customer behaviour, product adoption, engagement, conversion, retention and churn.
- Design, implement and analyse A/B tests and other controlled experiments.
- Develop experimental frameworks, including hypotheses, success metrics, sample-size calculations and statistical analysis plans.
- Apply causal-inference methods to measure the incremental impact of product and marketing initiatives.
- Use techniques such as difference-in-differences, matching, synthetic controls, causal impact and geographical experimentation where appropriate.
- Define product KPIs, success metrics and measurement frameworks.
- Develop segmentation, propensity, forecasting and machine-learning models.
- Build robust analytical datasets and conduct complex analysis using SQL and Python.
- Translate ambiguous commercial questions into clear hypotheses and structured analytical workplans.
- Develop dashboards, analytical tools and automated reporting processes.
- Present findings and recommendations clearly to senior technical and non-technical stakeholders.




- Work with product, marketing, engineering and leadership teams to support evidence-based decisions.
- Identify data-quality and tracking issues and recommend practical improvements.
- Use Claude and agentic AI systems to improve analytical research, coding, documentation and delivery.
- Review analytical work and help maintain high standards of statistical rigour.
- Manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.

Essential qualifications and experience

- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or another relevant scientific or quantitative discipline from a reputable university.
- 10+ years of professional experience in data analysis, data science, decision science, product analytics, marketing analytics or a closely related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing, implementing and analysing A/B tests.
- Professional experience within a leading technology company, high-growth product business, digital platform or fast-paced analytics environment.
- Strong knowledge of statistics, experimental design, hypothesis testing and causal inference.
- Advanced SQL skills, with experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong Python skills for data analysis, statistical modelling, machine learning and automation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to structure ambiguous business questions.
- Experience conducting analysis across product, marketing, growth or customer lifecycle functions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to explain complex analytical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience presenting findings and recommendations to senior decision-makers.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex projects.




- Practical experience using Claude, large language models and agentic AI systems within analytical workflows.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to analytical accuracy.

Nice to have
- Experience working in a consulting or client-facing environment.
- Experience with AWS, Google Cloud Platform or another major cloud environment.
- Experience developing, deploying or evaluating machine-learning models.
- Experience with product analytics and experimentation platforms.
- Experience with marketing measurement, incrementality testing, attribution or GeoLift.
- Experience within SaaS, consumer technology, marketplaces or subscription businesses.
- Experience mentoring analysts or reviewing the work of other data scientists.
