Roles and responsibilities
1. Cost Estimation & QuotationPrepare accurate cost estimates for recent aerospace parts, assemblies, tooling and manufacturing projects based on drawings, specifications and customer RFQs.
Estimation accuracy 95%; quotations submitted within agreed timelines
2. Drawing & Technical EvaluationStudy aerospace drawings, BOMs, specifications, GD&T;, material requirements, special processes and customer requirements before costing.
100% technical inputs reviewed before quotation
3. Material CostingCalculate raw material, bought-out components, consumables, wastage, scrap and yield factors for metals/composites and other aerospace materials.Material variance maintained within approved tolerance
4. Process CostingDevelop operation-wise costing covering machining, fabrication, composite manufacturing, assembly, inspection, testing and finishing processes.Operation-wise costing available for 100% quotations5. Labour & Machine Hour CostingEstablish standard labour hours, machine hours, setup time, cycle time and process rates based on actual manufacturing data.Standard costing accuracy 95%
6. Tooling & Fixture CostingEstimate tooling, fixtures, jigs, gauges, dies, molds and special equipment requirements for aerospace projects.Tooling estimates completed within quotation timelines
7.
Subcontract / Special Process CostingObtain and evaluate costs for NDT, heat treatment, surface treatment, plating, painting, composite processing, testing and other special processes.Competitive and technically compliant vendor quotes
8. RFQ & Customer Quotation SupportAnalyse customer RFQs, prepare commercial cost sheets and support Sales/BD in submitting technically and commercially viable quotations.100% RFQs responded within target timeline
9. Cost BenchmarkingBenchmark estimated costs against previous programs, similar components, market rates and historical actual costs.Continuous reduction in estimation variance
10. Should-Cost AnalysisDevelop should-cost models for aerospace components to identify realistic manufacturing costs and target prices.Documented should-cost analysis for major RFQs
11. Cost Reduction / VA-VEIdentify opportunities for material optimisation, process improvement, cycle-time reduction, make-vs-buy and alternate manufacturing methods.Annual cost-reduction opportunities identified and implemented
12. Actual vs Estimated Cost AnalysisCompare quoted/estimated costs with actual production costs after order execution and identify estimation gaps.Monthly variance analysis; corrective actions for major deviations.
