About The Role We are seeking a highly motivated Loss Prevention Consultant to join our Asia Pacific division, based in our Mumbai office. This is a full-time, permanent position designed for a degree-qualified engineer eager to develop a career in loss prevention engineering.
As a Loss Prevention Consultant, you will play a vital role in evaluating and mitigating risks for our clients’ large commercial and industrial properties. Your work will directly contribute to safeguarding assets, reducing potential losses, and ensuring business continuity for our clients. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop technical expertise, and work alongside industry-leading professionals in a dynamic, culturally diverse environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Working knowledge of construction practices, project execution, and assessment of flood, wind, and earthquake risks.
- 2 to 7 years of relevant experience in large EPC organizations, project/construction management, or engineering roles supporting large industrial facilities, petrochemical plants, or complex commercial projects.
- Field or site engineering experience, with a proven ability to perform physical assessments.
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated project leadership skills, including ownership of deliverables and cross-functional coordination.
- Willingness to travel frequently and engage directly with clients, project teams, and site personnel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly.
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Efficient time management skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proven technical capabilities with a diverse understanding of engineering principles.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Responsibilities The Loss Prevention Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks that contribute to risk assessment and mitigation for large commercial and industrial clients. Your responsibilities will include conducting site visits and physical evaluations of client properties, such as roofs, water supplies, chemical storage areas, and storage racks. You will perform comprehensive assessments to identify potential hazards related to fire, water, chemical, and structural risks. These evaluations are critical in helping clients implement effective loss prevention measures. Initially, your work will be structured around learning the company's standards and procedures through extensive training and mentorship. As you gain experience, you will independently assess larger properties, providing actionable recommendations that align with FM’s engineering standards. Your assessments will involve detailed site inspections, data collection, and analysis to identify vulnerabilities and recommend engineering solutions to reduce risks.
Effective communication is essential, as you will need to clearly convey your findings and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
Building strong relationships with clients and understanding their unique operational needs will be a key aspect of your role. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that risk management strategies are effectively implemented and monitored.
This role requires a hands-on approach, including performing physical inspections of properties, evaluating safety protocols, and reviewing site-specific hazards. Your insights will directly influence clients’ risk mitigation strategies, helping them protect their assets and ensure business continuity. You will also stay updated on industry standards, emerging risks, and best practices to continually enhance your expertise and contribute to FM’s reputation for excellence in loss prevention engineering.
