A Commis 1 (First Cook) is a senior culinary assistant role responsible for daily food production, station prep (mise-en-place), and assisting senior chefs like the Chef de Partie. Typical requirements include 1–3 years of kitchen experience, basic culinary certifications, and physical stamina to handle fast-paced service.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Experience: 2 to 4years of hands-on work in a commercial kitchen (often progressing from Commis II/III).
- Education: High school diploma; a formal culinary arts certificate or diploma is preferred.
- Certifications: Basic food hygiene or food handler's safety certificate.
- Skills: Good knife skills, ability to work under pressure, and strong personal hygiene habits.
