Role Description This is a full-time, in office CMM Engineer role based in Chennai. The CMM Engineer will be responsible for operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to inspect components and assemblies, ensuring they meet specified tolerances and quality standards.
Daily tasks include interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T;, preparing inspection plans, conducting dimensional inspections, and documenting measurement results. The role involves collaborating with production, quality, and design teams to resolve dimensional issues, support root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions. The CMM Engineer will also help maintain calibration records, improve measurement methodologies,
and contribute to ongoing process and quality improvements within the manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in CMM operation and programming, with experience using common CMM software platforms (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso, or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T;, and dimensional inspection methods in manufacturing and automotive contexts.
- Knowledge of quality assurance processes, including inspection planning, documentation, root-cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gauges) and calibration practices.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in production and engineering, and communicate measurement findings clearly.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related discipline; relevant certifications in metrology or quality are an advantage.
- Experience in automotive or manufacturing industries is preferred; exposure to ISO/TS or IATF quality standards is beneficial.
- Willingness to work on-site in Chennai and adapt to fast-paced, project-driven environments.
