NRole Description The Chess Instructor is a full-time, on-site role based at Indus International School Bangalore in Bengaluru. The instructor will design and deliver structured chess lessons for students across different age groups and skill levels, including foundational concepts, tactics, strategy, and tournament preparation. Daily responsibilities include planning lesson content, conducting individual and group coaching sessions, organizing practice games and internal competitions, and assessing student progress through regular feedback and performance tracking.
The role also involves integrating chess with broader educational goals such as logical thinking, focus, and sportsmanship, collaborating with teachers and activity coordinators, and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
NKey Responsibilities:
NDeliver engaging chess coaching sessions for students across different age groups and skill levels.
NPrepare students for inter-school, state, national, and international tournaments.
NDevelop structured lessonplans focusing on openings, middlegame strategy, endgames, tactics, and game analysis.
NMonitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and parents.
NFoster critical thinking,sportsmanship, discipline, and a love for the game.
NPreferred Qualifications:
NFIDE Rating and/or recognised coaching certification preferred.
NPrior experience coachingchildren in schools or chess academies.
NStrong communication and classroom management skills.
NPassion for mentoring young learners and developing competitive players.
NAbility to organise and support school chess events and tournaments.Strong chess skills, with the ability to teach openings, middlegame strategy, endgames, and tournament play.

- Comfort with Mathematics and logical reasoning to connect chess with analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Proven experience in Teaching, Tutoring, or Training, preferably with school-age learners.

- Ability to design age-appropriate coaching plans and adapt instruction to diverse skill levels.

- Clear and patient communication skills, with a focus on encouragement and constructive feedback.

- Experience organizing chess clubs, workshops, or tournaments in an educational setting is an advantage.

- Bachelor's degree in Education, Physical Education, or a related field;
chess certifications orratings from recognized bodies are essential.
