Position - Category Lead - Stainless Steel

Location- Mumbai /Bangalore

Role Overview

Technical Category Management

You manage the stainless steel category across grades product forms (sheets, coils, pipes, tubes, bars, structurals), and surface finishes. You define the right-to-win SKU architecture matching grade, form, and finish to specific customer application requirements in construction, fabrication, and OEM segments.

Commodity Pricing & Margin Management You track LME nickel prices, domestic HRC/CRC benchmarks, and mill price revisions to ensure real time pricing accuracy on the platform. You drive margin improvement by optimising procurement costs, managing price leakages, and structuring tiered pricing for key customer segments.

Quality, Compliance & Catalogue Integrity You maintain catalogue accuracy correct grade markings, specifications, dimensions, and application guidance to build buyer trust and reduce returns. Sourcing & Supplier Development You build and manage a strong supplier base primary mills (Jindal Stainless, Jindal Stainless Hisar, SAIL, Venus Pipes), authorised distributors, and regional stockists. You negotiate pricing,



payment terms, lead times, and quality commitments ensuring competitive procurement while maintaining supply reliability.

Market Intelligence & Demand Planning You monitor demand end-use industries — construction, kitchen equipment, pharmaceuticals, and process industries. You benchmark Birla Pivot's SS portfolio against leading distributors and e-commerce players and provide leadership with actionable insights

What makes you a excellent fit?

Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.

5–8 years of experience in stainless steel sourcing, procurement, trading, or category management

Strong technical knowledge of stainless steel grades (200, 300, 400 series), product forms, finishes, and applicable standards (ASTM, IS, EN).

Experience working with primary mills (Jindal Stainless, SAIL, Venus) or authorized distributors and stockists.

Understanding of commodity pricing dynamics — LME nickel, domestic HRC benchmarks, and mill price revision cycles.

Familiarity with quality documentation: Mill Test Certificates (MTC), BIS certification, and compliance requirements.

Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills with a detail-oriented approach to catalogue and pricing management
