Hiring: CAT Modelling Consultant
Experience: 3–5 Years
Location: Pune / Bengaluru (or as per business requirement)
Role Overview
We are looking for a motivated and analytical skilled to join our Catastrophe Risk Management team, with a focus on account and portfolio management. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in catastrophe modelling, strong technical and analytical skills, and a solid understanding of the insurance/reinsurance domain.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform catastrophe modelling activities including data management, validation, modelling, reporting, and process automation.
- Run catastrophe modelling software to simulate catastrophic events and maintain accurate exposure data.
- Support account-level and portfolio-level catastrophe risk analysis.
- Participate in quarterly catastrophe model analysis and prepare reports for business stakeholders.
- Validate, update, and enhance catastrophe risk models and related tools.
- Work closely with actuarial and underwriting teams to assess catastrophe risk and pricing impacts.
- Assist in catastrophe loss estimation and exposure reporting.
- Drive process improvement initiatives and automation opportunities.
- Support ad hoc projects related to catastrophe modelling and exposure profiling.
Required Skills
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in Catastrophe Modelling.
- Experience working with Verisk AIR (preferred) or RMS/RiskLink catastrophe modelling software.
- Strong understanding of Property & Casualty Insurance and Reinsurance concepts.
- Experience in exposure management, portfolio analysis, and catastrophe risk assessment.
- Hands-on experience with SQL for data querying and analysis.
- Strong proficiency in MS Excel for data analysis, reporting, and data scrubbing.
- Experience in data validation, quality assurance, and process management.
Good to Have
- Knowledge of Python or R .
- Experience with Power BI or Tableau .
- Exposure to insurance pricing or actuarial analytics.
Preferred Background
- Experience in catastrophe modelling, actuarial, capital modelling, or insurance analytics.
- Knowledge of treaty, facultative, portfolio, or account-level modelling.
- Strong communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to explain complex catastrophe modelling outputs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
