Role Description The Career Counselor will provide individualized and group guidance to students on academic choices, career pathways, and skill development, ensuring alignment with their interests, strengths, and values. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting counseling sessions, administering and interpreting career assessments, maintaining accurate student records, and designing workshops on career awareness, leadership, and employability skills.
The role involves collaborating with faculty, families, and external partners to create opportunities such as internships, mentorships, and exposure to various professions.
The counselor will also contribute to developing career management resources, updating knowledge on industry trends, and supporting innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives within the institute. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Career Counseling and Student Counseling to guide learners effectively and empathetically.
- Candidates should possess skills in Career Development, Career Management, and related planning techniques to support long-term student growth.
- Candidates should possess explicit and professional Communication skills for interacting with students, families, faculty, and external stakeholders.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Psychology, Counseling, Education, or a related field; certification in career counseling is an advantage.
- Experience working with school or college students, familiarity with assessment tools, and knowledge of current and emerging career fields.
- Ability to design workshops and resources, maintain confidentiality, use basic digital tools for documentation, and collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
