Role & responsibilities
- Develop, validate, and optimize CNC programs using NX CAM for 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis machining
- Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and GD&T; requirements for aerospace components
- Create toolpaths for complex geometries including impellers, blisks, structural parts, and precision components
- Perform simulation and verification to ensure collision-free machining and optimal cycle times
- Select appropriate cutting tools, fixtures, and machining strategies
- Support first article inspection (FAI) and production prove-outs
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams for DFM (Design for Manufacturability) improvements
- Troubleshoot machining issues and optimize programs for productivity and quality
- Maintain proper documentation of programs, setup sheets, and tooling data
- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards (AS9100,
customer-specific requirements)
- Work with CNC operators and machinists to implement best practices on the shop floor
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in cycle time reduction and tool life optimization
Preferred candidate profile
- Bachelors degree or Diploma in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering
- 812 years of experience in CNC programming within aerospace or high-precision manufacturing
- Strong hands-on experience in NX CAM (Siemens NX)
- Expertise in multi-axis machining (3/4/5-axis)
- Solid knowledge of CNC machines (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain controls preferred)
- Proficiency in interpreting GD&T; and engineering drawings
