COST is committed to bringing out excellence and inclusiveness in science Europe-wide and clearing away obstacles by offering low-barrier entry research networks and creating interdisciplinary research cooperation opportunities for researchers.
Through bottom-up, open and excellence-driven COST Actions and activities, COST’s inclusiveness policy nurtures talent and creativity. It aims to contribute to capacity building, increase connectedness via its low-barrier access process to networks of excellence.
Call for Applicants: COST COCAG Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs) Representative A key element of COST’s inclusiveness policy is developed around geographical spread. This includes less research-intensive COST Members. They are known as COST Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITCs).
The current list of ITCs include: Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Republic of North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia, Türkiye and Ukraine.
The COCAG core group is looking for a new ITCs Representative to support the work of the Action and support the Social Inclusion & Equity Advisor in developing the Action’s inclusiveness plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a point of contact for COST inclusiveness activities
- Promote COST opportunities to researchers, institutions and policy stakeholders in underrepresented regions
- Facilitate networking, mentoring and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Advocate for increased participation of researchers from ITCs in leadership roles
- Share examples of good practice and liaise with the core group to ensure alignment with strategic inclusiveness priorities
Person Specification: Essential criteria:
- Based in a COST ITC country
- Strong understanding of the European research and development landscape
- Excellent communication and networking skills across disciplines and career stages
- Ability to engage underrepresented research communities
- Ability to work both collaboratively and individually
- Be comfortable working in written and spoken English language
- Hold a good understanding of COCAG’s purpose and COST’s Inclusiveness Strategy
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience participating in COST Actions
- Active involvement in mentoring, widening participation, and policy-related initiatives

Call for Applicants: COST COCAG Social Inclusion and Equity Working Group Representatives (x 3 positions) As Social inclusion and Equity Adviser, Dr Louise Oldridge, is seeking a representative from each of the three COCAG working groups to support the development of the Action’s inclusiveness plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a point of contact within the relevant working group for COST inclusiveness activities, monitoring work plans, membership and participation patterns.
- Share examples of good practice and liaise with the core group to ensure alignment with strategic inclusiveness priorities
- Reflect COST’s commitments to
- Geographical inclusiveness (especially engagement of Inclusiveness Target Countries)
- Early-Career Researcher (ECR) development
- Gender balance and equitable participation
- Low-barrier access and widening participation
- Recognition of diverse forms of excellence and contribution
