Role & responsibilities

- Purchasing & sourcing: Execute the procurement of raw materials against MRP-driven demand, ensuring purchase orders are placed with the right specification, quantity, delivery date, and price.

- Supplier negotiation: Negotiate prices, lead times, and terms with approved mills, distributors, and service centres; drive cost-reduction and supply-continuity initiatives.

- Specification & compliance: Verify that every purchase meets material specifications, heat-lot traceability, and certification requirements (mill test reports / EN 10204 3.1, DFARS/domestic-melt where applicable).

- Inventory management: Maintain optimal raw-material stock levels, monitor safety stock and reorder points, and minimise excess, obsolescence, and shortages.

- Expediting: Track open orders, confirm acknowledgements, chase deliveries, and proactively resolve delays, shortages, and quality holds with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

- Supplier performance: Monitor supplier delivery, quality, and pricing performance; support scorecards, corrective actions, and continuous-improvement reviews.

- Cross-functional coordination: Work closely with Planning, Manufacturing, Quality,



and Engineering to align material availability with production schedules and program milestones.

- Data & systems: Maintain accurate procurement records in the ERP system (item masters, PO history, pricing, lead times) and support audits with complete documentation.

- Issue resolution: Resolve invoice discrepancies, non-conformances, and returns with suppliers, Accounts Payable, and Quality.

Preferred candidate profile

- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field.

- 36 years of procurement / buying experience, preferably in aerospace, defence, or precision manufacturing.

- Direct-procurement experience buying aerospace metals — nickel superalloys (Inconel), titanium, stainless/specialty steels, and aluminium — with knowledge of AMS specifications and certification/traceability requirements.

- Hands-on experience with an ERP/MRP system (e.g., Odoo, SAP, Oracle) for purchasing and inventory transactions.

- Solid negotiation, analytical, and supplier-management skills.

- Proficiency in MS Excel and general commercial/PO documentation.

- Excellent communication and organisational skills with high attention to detail.
