Position Summary The Business Reporting Analyst is a resident expert in business intelligence reporting, data modeling and dashboard development. This role owns the design, build and maintenance of reporting solutionsprimarily in Power BI—that give internal teams and clients clear, actionable insight into operational and project performance. The position requires robust database management skills, a deep understanding of data architecture, clear communication and the ability to translate business-driven functional requirements into elegant, polished deliverables that drive decision-making.

Position Responsibilities

- Report &
- Dashboard Development:

Design, build and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards and data visualizations that meet stakeholder requirements and align with business objectives.

- Data Modeling: Develop and optimize semantic models (datasets) in Power BI, including DAX measures, calculated columns and relationships that support accurate and performant reporting.

- Database Management: Write, tune and maintain SQL queries and stored procedures across relational databases; manage data integrity, indexing and access controls.

- Data Pipeline &

- Integration:

Build and maintain dataflows, data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes that feed Power BI from source systems including Dynamics 365, ERP platforms and operational databases.

- Data Architecture Support: Collaborate with the D365 System Admin / Solution Architect on data warehouse and data lake design, ensuring reporting layers are scalable and well-governed.

- Synapse &

- Cloud Analytics:

Where applicable, leverage Azure Synapse Analytics and Synapse Link to enable near-real-time reporting over large-scale operational data.

- Standards &

- Governance:





Define and enforce Power BI development standards including naming conventions, row-level security, workspace organization and deployment pipelines.

- Performance Optimization: Monitor and improve report performance through query optimization, aggregation strategies and incremental refresh configuration.

- Requirements Alignment: Partner with business stakeholders to capture functional requirements, translate them into clear data specifications and deliver polished, intuitive reporting solutions that align with operational goals.

- Stakeholder Enablement: Train end users on self-service reporting capabilities, promote data literacy and serve as the go-to resource for reporting questions across the organization.

- Embedded &

- Paginated Reports:

Develop embedded analytics for internal portals and paginated reports for scheduled distribution, giving stakeholders the right format for every use case.

- Automated Alerting &

- Subscriptions:

Configure data-driven alerts, scheduled report subscriptions and anomaly-detection rules so critical changes surface proactively rather than waiting for someone to check a dashboard.

- Natural-Language &

- AI Insights:

Leverage Power BI's Q&A;, Smart Narratives and Copilot features to make reports conversational and self-explanatory for non-technical users.

- Continuous Improvement: Stay current with Power BI feature releases,



Microsoft Fabric roadmap and evolving best practices; recommend and pilot new capabilities that add value.

Prerequisites and Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics or a related field.

- 3-6 years of hands-on experience designing and deploying Power BI reports and dashboards in a production environment (required).

- Strong SQL skills and practical experience managing relational databases (SQL Server, Azure SQL or equivalent).

- Proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M) for data transformation and modelling.

- Experience with data warehouse or data lake architectures (a plus).

- Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics or Synapse Link for Dynamics 365/Dataverse (a plus).

- Experience with Databricks for data engineering, lakehouse analytics or ML-powered reporting (a plus).

- Familiarity with Model Context Protocol (MCP) and agentic AI frameworks that extend reporting tools into automated workflows (a plus).

- Familiarity with Dynamics 365, Dataverse or similar ERP/CRM platforms as data sources.

- Understanding of ETL/ELT patterns and tools (Azure Data Factory, Power Automate, SSIS or equivalent).

- Working knowledge of row-level security, Power BI deployment pipelines and workspace governance.

- Strong analytical thinking and the ability to translate business questions into data models and visuals.

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to gather business requirements, present technical concepts to non-technical audiences and deliver elegant reporting solutions that meet functional needs.
