Blood Bank Technician

Key Responsibilities 1.

Blood

Collection &

• Donor Care Assist in blood donation camps and in-house donor collection. Perform donor screening, registration, and basic health checks. Ensure donor safety, comfort, and post-donation care. 2.

Blood

Processing &

• Component Preparation Perform blood grouping, cross-matching, and compatibility testing. Prepare blood components such as PRBC, platelets, plasma, and cryoprecipitate. Follow SOPs for centrifugation and component separation.

- Testing &
- Quality Control Conduct mandatory tests including TTI screening (HIV, HBV, HCV, etc.). Maintain quality control as per NABL/NABH and regulatory standards. Ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Storage &
- Inventory Management Maintain proper storage of blood units at recommended temperatures. Monitor inventory levels, stock rotation, and expiry dates. Maintain the cold chain during storage and transport.




- Issue of Blood &
- Components Issue blood/components after proper verification and documentation. Coordinate with clinical departments for urgent requirements.
- Documentation &
- Compliance Maintain accurate records of donors, blood units, testing, and issue registers. Ensure compliance with blood bank regulations, NABH standards, and legal requirements. 7.

Infection

Control &

• Safety Follow biosafety protocols and biomedical waste management guidelines. Ensure secure handling of blood samples and equipment.

Qualifications &

Experience DMLT / B.Sc.

Medical Laboratory

Technology.

Certification or experience in blood bank / transfusion medicine is preferred. 1–3 years of experience in a blood bank preferred. Freshers with relevant training may be considered.
