– Lead Playwright Automation Engineer

Location: Pune Experience: 8– 11 Years

About the Role

We are looking for a Lead Playwright Automation Engineer to lead UI automation initiatives for Industrial HMI applications. The ideal candidate will have strong automation framework development expertise, experience leading automation teams, and a solid understanding of Industrial Automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the design and implementation of scalable automation frameworks using Playwright.
- Define automation strategy and testing best practices.
- Mentor automation engineers and conduct code reviews.
- Drive automation coverage across UI, API, and regression testing.
- Collaborate with architects, developers, and product teams during feature planning.
- Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines.
- Estimate automation efforts and manage sprint deliverables.
- Review automation execution reports and quality metrics.
- Improve test efficiency through reusable components and automation standards.
- Support release validation and production readiness.

Required Skills

- 7–9 years of software testing experience.
- 4+ years of UI automation experience.
- Expert knowledge of Playwright.
- Solid programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Experience building automation frameworks from scratch.
- API automation experience.




- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD tools.
- Git, branching strategies, and code review practices.
- Strong debugging, analytical, and leadership skills.

Industrial HMI Experience

- Hands-on experience testing Industrial HMI or SCADA products.
- Strong understanding of industrial control systems.
- Knowledge of:
- OPC UA
- Modbus
- Profinet
- Ethernet/IP
- PLC communication

- Experience validating:

- Alarm management
- Trend analysis
- Recipe management
- Historian integration
- User management
- Runtime HMI functionality

- Exposure to Industrial IoT (IIoT) solutions is an advantage.

Leadership Responsibilities

- Lead a team of automation engineers.
- Define automation roadmap and quality standards.
- Conduct technical interviews and mentor team members.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Drive continuous process improvements and automation maturity.
- Ensure timely delivery with high automation coverage.

Good to Have

- Experience with Electron-based desktop applications.
- Python scripting.
- SQL databases.
- Docker and containerized test environments.
- Performance and security testing exposure.
- Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), SCADA, PLC, or Industrial IoT platforms.

Education

- BE/B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrical, or related engineering discipline.
