Description

- WSP is looking for an experienced Town Planner to join our GCC team based in India to support town planning and consenting inputs on major and nationally significant infrastructure projects in the UK via the Town and Country Planning Act 1990, Planning Act 2008 and Transport and Works Act Order.
- The successful candidates will have demonstrable experience of working within multidisciplinary teams on major infrastructure projects.
- We work at all stages of the consenting process from early feasibility, application preparation and delivery of consents on a variety of projects across the rail, road, energy, water, and local government sectors.

Responsibilities

- Be part of the Global Capability Centre (GCC) UK Infrastructure Planning team in India (Bengaluru / Noida), work in close collaboration with the UK Infrastructure Planning (IP) team, delivering high-profile projects for private and public sector clients across the UK.
- The selected candidate will contribute towards growing our Infrastructure Planning activities within our India-based team, working in close collaboration with colleagues in the UK to deliver high-quality, integrated outcomes.
- Provide consenting inputs on major infrastructure projects (DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs etc) and providing technical advice to clients and managing their consenting requirements as applicable. Co-ordinating the preparation and submission of consent applications which may include applications under the Town and Country Planning Acts,



the Planning Act 2008 or other regimes (as listed above).
- Project management with effective budgetary control. Desk studies, research, data management and report writing. Leading and supporting business development activities, including the writing of technical components for bids and proposals. Explore various business opportunities.

Project Delivery

- Managing the GCC Infrastructure Planning team to deliver framework/major projects to the highest quality standards.
- Set clear roles, responsibilities and performance expectations for all team members to deliver within given time and budget.
- Develop and implement strategies that align with organisational and framework objectives.

Stakeholder & Client Engagement

- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, to ensure alignment and satisfaction.
- Facilitate cross-regional and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Supporting the Service Line Director / Regional leads and HOD/TL to pursue new work winning opportunities in line with WSPs Growth Strategy as appropriate.

Change Leadership & Innovation

- Champion the adoption of new technologies, tools, and processes to enhance framework delivery.
- Lead change initiatives and foster a culture of innovation and adaptability.

Resource & Talent Management

- Support HOD / Team Leader in resource allocation, workload management, and succession planning, team’s performance and development requirements; Liaise with UK and GCC teams to manage workflows and expectations. Assist in resource. planning and risk management.
- Identifies skill gaps and implement training, mentoring, and development programs.
- Promotes diversity, inclusion, and talent pipeline development.

Commercial & Risk Management

- Manage technical and commercial risks, ensuring compliance with governance protocols.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing demands.





Governance & Reporting

- Define and enforce communication protocols and reporting standards.
- Review and ensure the quality of deliverables from junior staff.
- Delivers regular performance reviews and reports to the TL GCC.
- Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies;
- Any other task assigned by HoD/ Team Leader.

Qualifications

- Degree level qualification in Town Planning or relevant field
- Post Graduate qualification in Urban Planning / relevant subject with more than 15 years’ experience in planning preferably UK/Australia/Similar region
- Member of (or eligible for) the RTPI.
