Position Overview As our Broadcast Executive Producer, you’ll lead the daily execution of news coverage across broadcast, digital, and streaming platforms. Working closely with the Managers of Content and Coverage, as well as Executive Reporters, you’ll help shape editorial strategy, drive impactful storytelling, foster a collaborative and high-performing newsroom culture, and embrace emerging technologies that keep our journalism innovative and audience-focused.
Responsibilities
- Lead the onboarding, coaching, and development of new producers, building a robust talent pipeline while mentoring them in script writing, storytelling, and newscast execution.
- Coach producers on showcasing and pacing to create compelling, memorable, and audience-focused newscasts.
- Partner with the Managers of Content and Coverage and Executive Reporters to deliver cohesive, complementary coverage across broadcast, digital, streaming, and social platforms.
- Lead newsroom coverage during breaking news, demonstrating sound editorial judgment,
decisive leadership, and the ability to quickly shift priorities as stories evolve.
- Champion impactful, audience-centered journalism that reflects the diverse communities we serve and addresses the issues that matter most.
- Foster a newsroom culture that values community engagement, encouraging meaningful connections between our content, talent, and audience.
- Ensure all content reflects our brand pillars, editorial standards, and audience-first strategy while meeting the evolving needs of consumers.
- Willing and able to step in for Managers of Content and Coverage as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
Key Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience as an Executive Producer in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Proven success leading newsroom coverage during breaking news and severe weather.
- Experience leading cross-platform news coverage, including broadcast, digital, streaming, and social, with a commitment to innovation and audience growth.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills, with a demonstrated ability to develop producers and newsroom talent.
- Exceptional organizational, planning, and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines.
- Sound editorial judgment and a strong understanding of journalistic ethics, libel law, and newsroom best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and lead teams across all experience levels.
- Clear understanding of television and digital performance metrics, with the ability to use audience insights to inform content strategy and decision-making.
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work early mornings, evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed during breaking news or major events.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior years’ experience as an Executive Producer, showcasing the ability to lead a newsroom through high-pressure situations and daily deadlines.
- A college degree in Journalism or Communications.
