Role Description The Air and Ocean Import Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Chennai, responsible for managing end-to-end import operations for air and ocean freight. The role includes coordinating with overseas agents, carriers, and customers to ensure timely booking, shipment tracking, documentation, and customs clearance. The specialist will prepare and verify import documentation, monitor shipments from origin to destination, and resolve operational issues to maintain service quality and compliance.

Daily tasks involve updating internal systems, communicating shipment status, managing billing and cost approvals,



and supporting key accounts with accurate and timely information. The role also requires close collaboration with internal teams to optimize processes, maintain customer satisfaction, and uphold company standards for efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

Strong knowledge of air and ocean import procedures, international trade terms (Incoterms), and basic customs clearance practices.

Experience in freight forwarding, logistics coordination, or supply chain operations, preferably within air and sea cargo handling.

Ability to manage documentation such as bills of lading, airway bills, commercial invoices, packing lists, and import declarations with high accuracy.

Proficiency in using logistics, ERP, or shipment tracking systems, along with standard office software (e.g., MS Excel, Word, email tools).

Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to coordinate with global agents, carriers, and clients professionally.

Strong organizational and time-management abilities, including attention to detail and capability to handle multiple shipments and deadlines.

Understanding of compliance requirements, basic customs regulations, and risk management in international logistics.

Relevant educational background in logistics, supply chain, commerce, or a related field; professional certifications in logistics or freight forwarding are an advantage.

Prior experience working in an import department or freight forwarding company in Chennai or similar markets is preferred.

Ability to work in office in a fast-paced environment, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and adapt to changing operational needs.
