About us
Chipforge is the platform that takes you from design intent to working, verified register-transfer level (RTL) hardware, starting with FPGAs and expanding to ASICs, cutting out the time, iteration cost, and tool complexity of doing it the traditional way.
About the role
We're looking for an AI Engineer to join us on a 6-month contract, with strong potential to extend based on fit and need. You'll help make sure the models behind our platform are both rigorously evaluated and well-fed with high-quality, domain-relevant training data - with occasional contributions to the agentic systems that power our product.
▍WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Set up and maintain our evaluation infrastructure, adapting established benchmarks for our RTL/EDA-specific tasks.
- Build and maintain a suite of general-purpose evals - math reasoning, instruction following, table/structured-data comprehension, long-context retrieval - to track core model capability after every training run.
- Source, scrape, and curate publicly available RTL/hardware-relevant training data: textbooks, academic papers, open-source repositories, datasheets, and standards documentation.
- Clean, deduplicate, and format that data into training-ready formats,
maintaining the provenance and licensing metadata our governance requirements depend on.
- Contribute to our agentic systems as needed, integrating new evals or data tooling into the broader agent framework.
▍WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- Strong, hands-on Python, with real experience building and maintaining data pipelines at scale.
- Direct experience running or adapting LLM evaluation frameworks (SWE-bench, Tau-bench, lm-eval-harness, HELM, or similar).
- Experience with web scraping and large-scale data collection and cleaning.
- Comfort operating independently in an early-stage, evolving environment with limited hand-holding.
▍NICE TO HAVE
- Background in RTL/Verilog, digital design, or EDA tooling.
- Exposure to LLM fine-tuning (SFT and/or RL-based post-training).
- Experience with agent frameworks or tool-use pipelines.
▍HOW WE WORK
This is a fully remote contract role, open to candidates based anywhere, running 6 months with solid potential to extend based on how things go. We work closely as a distributed team across Australia, Singapore, and India, so comfort collaborating across time zones matters.
