The Role
You'll own the hands-on build, iteration, and precision assembly of our engineering model, a high-speed (10,000–16,000 RPM) motor for satellite reaction wheels and CMGs. This is a build-test-rebuild role: you'll personally assemble prototypes, dynamically balance rotors, run and support environmental validation (shock, vibration, thermal, EMI/EMC), diagnose fit and performance issues, and iterate fast through multiple engineering model builds before we move toward flight-model AIT.

What You Will Do
Personally assemble and dynamically balance high-speed rotor assemblies (target balance grades to be defined per build)
Select, install, and diagnose bearing performance for continuously rotating shaft assemblies
Build and iterate custom assembly fixtures and jigs as the design evolves through engineering model cycles
Diagnose vibration, fit, and tolerance issues through hands-on troubleshooting, visual inspection, root-cause analysis, and rework
Plan and support environmental validation of prototype builds, shock testing, vibration (sine/random), thermal cycling, and EMI/EMC characterization, working with test facilities or in-house equipment as available
Correlate environmental test results against expected performance and feed discrepancies back into the design and assembly process
Coordinate with vendors on machined component quality, tolerance verifica
