Responsible for all activities associated with running machines including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
This is a team leadership position. Direction for each member of the team starts with the operator.
Direct each member of the team, ensuring plant safety rules are understood and followed.
Inspect the machine area at the start of each day before attempting to run the machine.
Communicate with management any and all training, team, and mechanical needs.
All required paperwork must be completed and turned in daily.
Follow the machine schedule and communicate any foreseen issues and concerns.
Lead the set-up of the machine in accordance with proper setup techniques and efficiency.
Complete quality checks according to plant quality standards.
Communicate all quality concerns immediately to management.
Run the machine in a protected, productive manner. Downtime and waste must be kept to a minimum.
Causes for downtime and waste must be documented and communicated.
Complete required preventive maintenance as scheduled.
Cross-train on other machines.
Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Machine Operational Status, Safety Data, Quality Data.
Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
Switch duties with Assistant Operator as necessary for training purposes.
Report any discovered food packaging safety risks or concerns to the food packaging safety management representative or direct supervisor.
Additional duties may be assigned by management.
Mathematical Skills
Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
