The Commercial Modeller – Price to Win will provide the necessary support for the UK&I; business to form strategic Price models for tenders and retain and manage large quantities of pricing benchmark data to inform future opportunities.
Whilst sitting in the GCC Strategic Growth function, they will be an integral part of WSP UK’s core Price to Win function which supports WSP’s operational businesses to deliver growth through winning current contracts. Specifically, the Price to Win team look to ensure we submit the Price that maximises the chance of winning opportunities whilst ensuring we maximise our financial returns.
This role will be hugely rewarding for individuals who have a competitive streak and like to
strategise to find winning formulas. They will enjoy always being at the forefront of WSP
UK&I;’s work winning pipeline working on some of the largest and most exciting tenders in the
market.
Responsibilities
This multi-faceted role will require the individual to apply their skills in three primary areas of
responsibility:
• Pricing Model Compilation
• Review tender documents and develop appropriate pricing strategies to deliver high quality and competitive tender submissions.
• Manage pricing inputs (mainly Pricing Models) and ensure these are appropriately completed to enable commercial decisions to be made.
• Convert these inputs into formats required by our clients for tender submissions.
• Successful candidates will require the ability to work independently with various Technical and Engineering teams to determine the best pricing outcomes for tenders they are responsible for.
• Provide strategic commercial insights that enable individual bid teams to maximise the financial outcomes of Tenders.
• Pricing Database Data
• Manage the process of extracting pricing data from projects and maintaining the data in a pricing database
• Ensure strong data accuracy and volume.
• Pricing Template development
• Update and develop WSP UK&I;’s pricing tools and ensure the templates are always up to date.
Qualifications
Required Education, qualifications and experience
• Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required (e.g. engineering or business).
• Experience: 12+ years of relevant experience in bids/proposals, business development, or commercial roles within engineering consultancy or related professional services.
• Excel: Excellent knowledge and experience of Microsoft Excel is essential, ideally within a financial context
• Proposals: Knowledge of proposal lifecycle management and competent in pricing / commercial aspects of work winning.
• Independent and Pro-active: Work directly with Technical and Engineering teams to draw out the best pricing outcomes.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the engineering and environmental consultancy sector (or similar industries such as construction, infrastructure, or professional services).
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. English fluency is essential; proficiency in any Indian local languages is a bonus for local team management (the primary working language will be English given the UK interface).
• Integrity and Compliance: Uncompromising commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality (especially with sensitive client bid data), and following all corporate compliance processes during pursuits.
The Commercial Modeller – Strategic Growth will have a direct reporting line to the Team Leader – Strategic Growth in GCC. In addition, the Team Leader will work directly with Thomas Hawkey, Head of Price to Win in Strategic Growth UK on all aspects reference in the Role Summary.
