Lily joined us through the Harper Adams apprenticeship scheme and is poised to undertake hands-on experiences that will transform theory into practical knowledge of the rural landscape.

I have been an apprentice at youngsRPS for 7 months now, I joined the company after I completed my A-Levels at Barnard Castle School and have thoroughly enjoyed it. I believe that studying at Harper Adams alongside working allows me to put what I have been taught at university into practice, for example, we learned about restrictive covenants and how this can affect property sales. Luckily at the time, we had a property on the market that had a restrictive covenant for 30 years, so I already understood the basis of this and therefore could apply this real-life example to the classroom.

Every day is different, I usually check the portals first thing to check for any inquiries that we may have received on a range of properties. I will have a few emails with varying tasks from my colleagues, these are always different and are sometimes tasks I have never come across before, however,



I know that I can just ask if it is something I am unfamiliar with. My colleagues are excellent at explaining things to me, they have taken on board what I am learning every day and take time out to guide me and share their wealth of experience.

The apprenticeship allows you to gain so much more independence than you would at university at such a young age both personally and professionally. In January I was tasked with producing multiple schedules of conditions for a variety of clients entering solar leases, this involved documenting the land’s current state and compiling it into a detailed document so that it can be used to restore the land in the future. This was a job which I completed myself and experienced lone working properly for the first time, it also allowed me to meet clients whom I hadn’t previously met. I also have a lot of responsibility on the property management side, this allows me to get to
