Key Responsibilities

This is a key requirement for an L3 Engineer. A solid foundation in Computer Science principles in terms of filesystems, processes, network stack, protocols, etc., is necessary for a candidate to perform as expected at a senior position.

Manage Microsoft Servers like Hyper-V, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, etc.

Candidate is expected to know these servers/technologies beforehand along with the ability to learn quickly.

Troubleshoot problems with deployed servers or perform current deployments from scratch.

Understand client requirements, identify possible issues with the current setup, present new architectures, and migrate from existing setups to new setups with minimum downtime and no data loss.

Work with L1/L2 engineers and provide leadership to prepare them for L3 support activities.

Travel to different cities for infrastructure setup, meetings, and discussions as required.

Support infrastructure remotely over VPN and SSH using shell commands without relying on GUI access.

Maintain confidentiality of root access, passwords, keys, and client information.

Maintain documented procedures such as Disaster Recovery for OS Infrastructure.

Collaborate with team members, software vendors, and technical staff to develop, design, implement, and improve systems.

Automate tasks using Shell scripting or configuration management tools such as Ansible and Puppet.

Leverage internal technical expertise, knowledge base, community forums, and internal tools to provide effective customer solutions.

Resolve single and cross-technology incidents independently.

Lead team members in resolving complex or cross-technology incidents.

Identify, manage, and lead technical escalations.

Participate in formal escalations during crisis situations.

Perform proactive and reactive Problem Management, including trend and root cause analysis.

Independently prepare, review, implement, rollback, and test change plans.

Perform risk and impact analysis for changes and participate in Change Advisory Board activities.





Apply patch and security changes as per policy.

Monitor patch compliance and analyze compatibility with customer and internal environments.

Ensure Configuration Management Database (CMDB) entries are complete and accurate.

Provide feedback to improve internal and vendor-provided products and services.

Technical Skills

Expert knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008/2012/2016 Administration (Installation, Configuration, Management).

Expert knowledge of Virtualization: VMware, Microsoft System Center, Hyper-V Administration.

Expert knowledge of Microsoft troubleshooting tools and techniques, including OS hardening and vulnerability assessment.

Knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and troubleshooting.

Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.

Knowledge of Active Directory Group Policies.
