Incumbent in this position is responsible and accountable for providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards as set forth in the Nursing Departments Procedural manual in OPD and Implant/Medical Centers of the hospital
A. General Responsibilities
- Accountable for complete patient care and safety in the assigned area/ ward
- Makes a complete & quick assessment of patients in In patient area and documents the same for designated age group
- Endorses patients and assigned tasks to the next shift completely and correctly
- Providing Nursing care as per protocols: including periodic vital recording, administration of IV fluids and medications, recording of ECG, preparing for /getting done the investigations, etc.
- Demonstrates awareness of potential /actual risks of infection and modes of transmission and follows infection control protocols
- Maintains continuity of care through explicit and concise (verbal and written) communication.
- Maintains required quantity and storage of medicines, CSSD and medical consumables
- Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel as required without delay.
- Implements emergency life resuscitative measures according to RRT & BLS protocols.
- Undertakes patient and family education and documents the same.
- Uses equipment safely and efficiently and takes responsibility of the inventory of the unit.
- Facilitates smooth consultation as per the protocols and doctors advice.
- Handles the hospital system for indent, medication and patient information.
B. Unit Specific Responsibility i. General OPD
- Able to change the dressing of the patient of different procedures
- Able to identify,
administer and monitor along with educate the patients about the various vaccines
- Assisting in advance procedures like bladder irrigation, FNAC, suturing & suture removal, cyst excision, urethral calibration, pack and drain removal, colostomy care etc.
C. Education and Training
- Attend all Mandatory training and ensure to updates herself/himself in a timely fashion
- Successfully Complete key learning outcomes from the foundation programme during the first month of employment and will complete the main set of competencies within 6 months
- Initiate own development within agreed parameters.
- Help induct new staff with a formal induction programme.
- Be prepared to extend knowledge and skills by rotation to other areas in consultation with the Head of Nursing
- Be prepared to be trained and use any information technology that is brought into your area.
D. Behavioural Responsibility

- Adheres to the hospital Uniform and dress code policy
- Maintains the punctuality & Discipline
- Respect the seniors and colleagues
- Participates actively in the unit-based and organizational quality improvement programs.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, staff, family and visitors.
- Upholds the nursing code of ethics and acts as a role model to other staff Members.
- Any other job, which deemed fit for the role as assigned
- Handle complaints in accordance with Hospital policy. To report all complaints, incidents or accidents to the nurse in charge of the ward or Chief of Nursing
- Liaise and co-operate with medical staff and other members of the Multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred candidate profile Min. 1-4 years of experience.
