Position Title: Construction Laborer

Department: Wastewater Treatment Plant

Pay: $28.76/hour ($29.01 after 90 days)

Status: Full time

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

Performs skilled and semi-skilled construction, repair, and maintenance work in support of the City of Terre Haute Wastewater Utility's collection system. Assists with the installation, repair, and replacement of sewer infrastructure, concrete work, and related construction projects while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the work performed. This list is not intended to be all inclusive.

Assists with the repair, replacement, and maintenance of sewer mains, manholes, lift stations, inlets, castings, and other wastewater collection system infrastructure.
Places, finishes, and repairs concrete for sidewalks, curbs, gutters, drive approaches, parking areas, footings,



and other municipal construction projects.
Mixes mortar and installs brick and block as required.
Mobilizes and demobilizes construction sites, including loading, unloading, transporting, and securing equipment, materials, and traffic control devices.
Operates construction equipment including excavators, mini excavators, backhoes, skid steers, forklifts, tractors, and other equipment as assigned.
Assists with layout, formwork, grading, and installation for various construction projects.
Performs emergency repairs and responds to after-hours service calls while participating in the department's rotating on-call schedule.
Assists with special projects for the Wastewater Utility and other City departments.
Establishes safe work zones using signs, barricades, barrels, arrow boards, flagging operations, and other traffic control devices.
Reads and interprets construction plans, safety procedures, operating instruction
