Position: Unit Head/Works Manager

Location: Midnapore, West Bengal

Product : Fibre Cement Boards

Qualification

- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering (Mandatory)
- MBA (Operations) will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 1825 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 8–10 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in Fibre Cement Boards / Building Materials / Cement Products / Asbestos / plywood/Ceramics/ tiles/Glass/Rubber/ Paper/ Sugar/ any Process Manufacturing is preferred.
- Proven experience in handling both Technical and Non-Technical Departments of a manufacturing unit.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead and manage complete plant operations to achieve production, quality, safety, and cost targets.
2. Ensure smooth functioning of all departments including Production, Maintenance (Mechanical & Electrical), Automation, Quality, Stores, Planning, Utilities, Dispatch, HR, Administration, Safety, and Security.
3. Drive production planning and ensure achievement of daily, monthly, and annual production targets.
4. Implement and sustain 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence initiatives.
5. Ensure adherence to Quality Management Systems and maintain product quality as per customer and company standards.
6. Monitor plant productivity, machine efficiency (OEE), yield improvement, rejection reduction, and process optimization.
7. Coordinate with Mechanical, Electrical, and Automation teams to ensure preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
8. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, machines, raw materials, utilities, and other plant resources.

Develop and mentor technical and non-technical teams to improve productivity and employee engagement.
10. Ensure compliance with statutory requirements including Factory Act, Pollution Control Board norms, Labour Laws, Fire & Safety, and Environmental regulations.
11. Prepare and monitor production budgets, manufacturing costs, energy consumption, and cost reduction initiatives.
12. Coordinate with Purchase, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, R&D;, and Corporate functions for seamless plant operations.
13. Drive safety culture through implementation of EHS practices and ensure zero accident initiatives.
14. Review plant KPIs, MIS reports, production performance, quality metrics, maintenance effectiveness, and action plans.
15. Lead audits including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, customer audits, and internal quality audits.
16. Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to enhance capacity utilization and operational efficiency.
17. Ensure customer delivery commitments by coordinating production planning, inventory, and dispatch.
18. Build a high-performance culture through effective leadership, discipline, accountability, and employee development.

Knowledge & Skills

- Thorough knowledge of Fibre Cement Board manufacturing processes.
- Strong understanding of Production, Mechanical Maintenance, Electrical, Utilities, Automation, Quality Assurance, Stores, and Logistics.
- Knowledge of PLC/SCADA-based manufacturing systems.
- Expertise in Preventive & Predictive Maintenance practices.
- Strong exposure to Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and 5S.
- Excellent knowledge of Factory Act, EHS, and statutory compliance.
- Solid leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, and people management skills.
