The Tower Technician I will assist with the installation, maintenance, and removal of wireless communication equipment on towers and related infrastructure. This role involves both climbing and ground support duties, working closely with experienced technicians and crew leads.
Tower
Work & Climbing Safely climb communication towers and structures.
Assist with installation, maintenance, and removal of antennas, coax, and microwave dishes.
Maintain 100% tie-off and adhere to all fall protection requirements.
Ground Support
Provide support for lifting, rigging, and hoisting materials.
Manage ropes, pulleys, and tag lines during tower operations.
Maintain clear communication with climbers and crew leads. Cable & Equipment Installation Install and route coaxial, Cat5/6, and fiber optic cables on towers and within shelters.
Assist with connectorization, grounding, and weatherproofing.
Operate basic hand and power tools (crimpers, drills, torque wrenches, etc.). Site Preparation & Maintenance Assist with site setup, fencing, and general construction tasks.
Support trenching, grounding, and concrete work as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work workplace. Testing & Documentation Support sweep testing, PIM testing, and cable verification.
Document measurements, materials used, and daily work performed.
Complete basic reports and checklists as directed. Safety & Compliance Follow all company, OSHA, and industry safety standards.
Inspect PPE and safety equipment prior to use.
Participate in daily safety meetings and adhere to site-specific protocols. Training & Development Train under senior technicians and crew leads.
Develop skills in climbing, rigging, and radio/microwave systems.
Work toward industry certifications (OSHA 10/30, RF Awareness, First Aid/CPR).
Technical Skills
Ability to safely climb towers up to 500 feet (with training).
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools.
Familiarity with telecom cabling (coax, Cat5/6, fiber) is a plus.
Willingness to learn testing and installation procedures.
Basic computer or tablet skills for reporting.
Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical labor.
Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor environments.
Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight stays.
Ability to pass a climb test and maintain required certifications.

Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus).
Willingness to undergo drug screening and background check.
OSHA, RF Awareness, and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain after hire).
