The IB -PYP Visual Arts Teacher will deliver a child -centered, inquiry -based art program that fosters creativity, critical thinking, and cultural appreciation. The role focuses on developing students' "visual language" and self -expression while aligning with the PYP framework. The teacher will nurture a love for the arts by encouraging students to explore, experiment, and reflect on their creative journeys, ensuring that the art studio is a hub for transdisciplinary discovery.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning (PYP -Aligned)
- Plan and deliver inquiry -based art lessons that align with the PYP philosophy and the school’s Programme of Inquiry (POI).
- Develop foundational skills in various art mediums appropriate for primary learners (Early Years to Grade 5).
- Integrate visual arts into Units of Inquiry, allowing students to express their understanding of classroom concepts through creative media.
- Differentiate instruction to ensure all students, regardless of artistic background, can achieve success and express themselves.
2. Curriculum & Creative Development
- Design a progressive art curriculum that builds a strong vocabulary in the Elements of Art and Principles of Design.
- Promote an appreciation for Art History and Global Cultures, introducing students to diverse artists and traditional crafts.
- Encourage the use of the Art Journal as a tool for brainstorming, sketching, and reflecting on the creative process.
3. Assessment & Documentation
- Use formative assessment strategies, such as peer critiques and self -reflections, to support student growth.
- Document the "learning journey" through anecdotal records, process portfolios, and displays that highlight both the process and the product.
- Provide constructive feedback that encourages students to take risks and refine their artistic techniques.
4. Collaboration & School Engagement
- Collaborate with homeroom teachers and the PYP Coordinator to ensure the arts are meaningfully integrated into transdisciplinary units.
- Participate in collaborative planning meetings, school assemblies, and the PYP Exhibition.
- Play a major role in school events by designing themes, stage backdrops, props, and visual aesthetics for assemblies, festivals, and annual functions.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts (BFA) or Art Education from a recognized university.
- IB -PYP training or exposure to an inquiry -based environment is an added advantage.
Eligibility & Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of total teaching experience – Compulsory.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Primary classes Visual Arts instruction – Preferred.
- Positions are open for experienced candidates only. Freshers need not apply.

- Robust understanding of the IB PYP framework and child development in the arts.
- Excellent communication and classroom management skills for primary -age children.

Employment Commitment Requirement
- This is a full -time, on -campus role requiring complete professional commitment.
- Concurrent employment, freelance work, or private tuition during the academic year is not permitted.
- Pursuing any regular academic programme (full -time or part -time) that interferes with school responsibilities is not permissible.
