Role Overview
The Production Planning Head is responsible for
end -to -end production planning, scheduling, and control to ensure on -time
delivery, optimal capacity utilization, cost efficiency, and quality compliance in garment manufacturing. The role acts as the central coordination point
between merchandising, sourcing, production, quality, and logistics. The company
have 400 clients to cater in a year with an average quantity of 30 - 200 pcs in
a particular order. There is no line production because of the limited
quantities for each order. This is a made to order brand
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop master production plans based on order confirmation, delivery
dates, and capacity.
- Prepare line loading plans, weekly & daily production schedules.
- Balance
capacity across styles, lines, factories, and processes.
- Monitor critical path timelines (T&A;) from fabric booking to shipment.
Order & Capacity Management
- Ensure feasible order acceptance by analyzing SMV, capacity, and manpower.
- Optimize line efficiency and throughput to meet shipment targets.
- Plan
manpower, shifts, and overtime in coordination with HR & production
teams.
Coordination & Communication
- Act
as a bridge between Merchandising, Sourcing, Sampling, Production, QA,
and Logistics.
- Track
fabric, trims, and accessories availability and flag risks proactively.
- Lead daily production review meetings and weekly planning meetings.
Production Control & Monitoring
- Track
actual vs planned output; analyze deviations and take corrective actions.
- Monitor WIP,
bottlenecks, and line efficiency.
- Drive
reduction in idle time, rework, and production loss.
MIS & Reporting
- Generate
and present daily, weekly, and monthly MIS on:
- Production
status
- Efficiency
- OTIF
(On -Time In -Full)
- Capacity
utilization
- Use
ERP / PLM / Excel -based tools for planning and tracking.
Process Improvement
- Implement lean manufacturing, line balancing, and productivity improvement
initiatives.
- Standardize
planning processes across units/factories.
- Support
cost reduction and continuous improvement projects.
Team Leadership
- Lead
and mentor PPC and planning teams.
- Set
KPIs and performance goals for planning staff.
