Senior engineering where the requirements are unforgiving and the scale is real.
PrismHR is the HR, payroll, and benefits platform used by employer-services organizations across the United States, backed by Vensure Employer Solutions. Payroll software has a property most software does not: there is no acceptable margin of error, and every defect has someone's name attached to it. That constraint is what makes senior engineering here substantive rather than routine.
You will own significant features end to end across the stack — Angular and TypeScript on the front end, Node.js and Express services and APIs behind them, and the data layer underneath. Ownership here means design input, implementation, test coverage, and production accountability, not delivery of assigned tickets.
You will lead code reviews and hold the quality bar for the team. You will mentor mid-level and junior engineers, which at this level is part of the job rather than a bonus. You will partner with product management on requirements before they are finalized,
and with QA on whether the test strategy actually covers the risk. You will write technical documentation that survives after you move on.
You will also work on the boundary between our modern stack and the mature payroll core, which is where the most engaging engineering problems on this platform live — real constraints, complex data, and a migration that has to happen without a single missed pay run.
You will need:
6–10 years of hands-on full stack development
Strong JavaScript and TypeScript, with substantial single-page application work in Angular
Solid Node.js and Express, with real experience designing REST APIs or microservices rather than only consuming them
Testing discipline across unit, integration, and functional levels
Strong SQL and data modeling ability
Demonstrated code review leadership and mentoring
Ability to debug across tiers and reason from symptom to root cause under pressure
