Mathematics Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training
About The Role
What if your deep knowledge of mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons through the hardest problems in science, engineering, and beyond? We're looking for Mathematics Researchers to help build and refine the reasoning capabilities of cutting-edge AI models — crafting challenging problems, verifying solutions, and pushing the boundaries of what AI can understand.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for mathematicians who want to do meaningful, intellectually stimulating work on their own schedule. Training and support will be provided.
Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance and rigor
Apply your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related fields to design complex, well-structured problem statements
Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for correctness, clarity, and depth
Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to identify gaps and improve model performance
Ensure all deliverables meet high standards of mathematical precision and communicative clarity
Work independently on task-based assignments fully on your own schedule
Who You Are
Hold a Master's or PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field
Expert-level command of at least one of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
Comfortable coding in Python, MATLAB, or Mathematica for research or problem-solving contexts
Exceptionally explicit written communicator — you can explain complex ideas precisely and accessibly
Naturally detail-oriented with a rigorous, methodical approach to mathematical work
Fluent in English
Nice to Have
Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
Familiarity with AI or machine learning research environments
