While I still want to talk about mental health, learning and development and leadership on the blog, I thought I would switch things up and share my favourite resources of 2018 so far.
After all, it’s only fair to share some love with those who are inspiring me, give you other places to search for information, and lighten things up a bit with less “advice” and more DIY. Below are some of my favourite sources of inspiration.
Gretchen Rubin
Since I discovered her interview on the Tim Ferriss show, I got excited about her books, her website and everything it has to offer. Gretchen is pursuing happiness and good habits, and has a huge variety of resources on her website, from quizzes, to newsletters, groups, projects and an app. She also hosts a podcast with her sister if you’d rather spend time listening than reading.
When to Jump
Maybe you are wondering whether you are in the right job, or if you’ve found your vocation in life. Or perhaps sometimes you catch yourself thinking “what am I doing here”? (key existential questions).
When to jump is the story of Mike Lewis who decided to take a leap of faith and quit his corporate job to play squash. Sometimes all you need is a little faith, or to hear someone else’s story, to make you think you might be able to do it too.
The When to jump book, website and social media profiles share a bunch of stories of other people who decided to jump and do something different, and encourage you to submit your story too. There is also a podcast.
How I built this – podcast
More and more people are choosing to become self-employed or entrepreneurs, the gig economy is today’s reality. Yet as we consider the option for ourselves, sometimes the idea of starting a business may seem impossible. Or perhaps we look at the successful business giants: Google, Amazon, Facebook, Tesla and think… “I could never do that”. It seems insurmountable.
