Job Summary
A Civil Estimator plays a pivotal role in the construction industry, requiring a blend of technical knowledge, analytical skills, and attention to detail. This professional is responsible for calculating the costs associated with various civil engineering projects, commercial buildings, and residential developments. Their primary goal is to ensure that projects are economically feasible while meeting the highest standards of quality and safety. In this role, Civil Estimators work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to prepare detailed cost estimates that guide the planning and execution of construction projects. Key responsibilities include reviewing project plans, analysing requirements, and using advanced software tools to create accurate and comprehensive estimates.
Key Responsibilities
Reviewing and interpreting GFC drawings and specifications
Preparing detailed cost estimates for materials, labour,
and equipment
Making site visits to gather data and assess project material availability
Collaborating with architects, engineers, and project managers
Analysing project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities
Maintaining and updating a database of cost information for various construction materials and labour rates
Ensuring compliance with relevant building codes and regulations
Monitoring project costs and adjusting estimates as necessary
Providing cost advice throughout the project lifecycle
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
Proven track record of successful project cost estimation
Excellent communication and team collaboration skills
