Goodyear has announced a significant restructuring of its aviation tyre business, bringing all worldwide operations under a unified global structure for the first time. The move, effective from 1 November 2025, aims to strengthen the company's position across commercial, military and private aviation sectors.
Joe Burke, a Goodyear veteran with more than ten years' experience at the company, has been appointed vice president of Global Aviation. In his recent role, Burke will oversee strategy and execution across all geographies, reporting to Grégory Boucharlat, senior vice president of Global Commercial.
"Aviation is a strategic and high-value segment for Goodyear, and we're proud of the legacy we've built over the past century," said Boucharlat. "By aligning our global capabilities,
we're better positioned to serve our customers with some of the industry's most trusted products and services."
Strategic Focus on Aviation
The reorganisation represents a strategic shift designed to enhance Goodyear's ability to meet evolving customer requirements whilst delivering advanced solutions for aircraft operations. The company has emphasised that aviation remains a key contributor to its global portfolio.
Goodyear's aviation heritage stretches back over a century, with the company developing the world's first pneumatic aircraft tyre in 1909. Today, its aviation products serve a diverse range of operators including commercial airlines, military fleets and private aircraft.
Broader Context
The restructuring comes as Goodyear navigates a challenging financial environment. The Akron, Ohio-based manufacturer operates 51 manufacturing facilities across 19 countries and employs approximately 68,000 people worldwide.
