Flax Cafe is a healthy, wholefood café in Goa built around fresh, seasonal, and nourishing food. We serve vibrant salads, grain and Buddha bowls, plant-forward plates, cold-pressed juices, smoothies, and clean, feel-valuable cooking — food that tastes as good as it makes people feel. The Role

We're looking for an experienced Sous Chef to be second-in-command in our kitchen. You'll run the pass alongside the Head Chef, lead the line during service, uphold our standards on every plate, and help keep the kitchen calm, clean, and consistent. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves fresh, healthy food and wants to grow with a brand that's expanding.

What You'll Do

- Run the kitchen and lead the line during busy services, stepping up in the Head Chef's absence
- Maintain consistency, quality, and presentation on every dish
- Prep, cook, and plate across all stations — salads, bowls, hot line, and juices/smoothies
- Manage food safety, hygiene (HACCP/FSSAI standards), and station cleanliness
- Oversee stock, ordering, and portion control to keep food costs and wastage in check
- Train, guide,



and motivate junior kitchen staff
- Help develop new dishes and refine the menu around seasonal, healthy ingredients

What We're Looking For
- 4–6 years' kitchen experience, with at least 1–2 years as a Sous Chef or senior CDP ready to step up
- Strong grounding in healthy, wholefood, or Mediterranean/plant-forward cooking (café or all-day dining experience preferred)
- Solid knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen management
- A calm, organised leader who performs well under pressure
- Reliable, consistent, and genuinely passionate about fresh, quality food
- Comfortable with stock, ordering, and basic food-cost control
- Available to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts as needed
