JD - Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Company’s Name: Edgistify

Desired Experience: 2 to 3 years

Desired Qualification: Graduate / Postgraduate (IT / Computers)

Job Location: Thane A Senior Tester who delivers 2x confidence to Edgistify by owning end-to-end quality assurance for complex distributed systems, proactively identifying reliability and scalability risks, and ensuring production readiness with zero surprises.

About Edgistify

Edgistify operates a sophisticated e-commerce logistics platform with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Order Management System (OMS) handling high-throughput order assignment, inventory tracking, and picking workflows. Our platform is built on a scalable, event-driven backend that demands rigorous quality validation at every deployment cycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architectural Risk Hunting

Systematically test key technical decisions before implementation to give architects unshakeable production confidence:

· Conduct chaos engineering experiments on critical paths (order assignment, payment processing, inventory sync etc…) to validate Edgistify's system reliability

· Execute load testing and stress scenarios that simulate 10x peak traffic patterns matching company volumes

· Identify single points of failure in distributed system designs through edge-case and failure mode analysis

· Generate pre-deployment "risk scorecards" highlighting vulnerabilities that could impact company SLAs

2. Production Simulation Environment

Create and maintain a "production twin" test environment that accurately mirrors live systems:

· Replicate MongoDB aggregation pipeline patterns and transaction isolation levels used in WMS

· Validate end-to-end flows matching real Edgistify order volumes and data patterns

3. Automated Confidence Pipeline

Build and own CI/CD quality gates that provide team with real-time visibility:

· Implement confidence dashboards showing: 99.9% uptime, <50ms P99 latency, zero data corruption

· Set up contract testing (API contracts, schema validation) to prevent breaking changes

· Generate quality metrics that team use to approve/reject deployments with confidence

4. Pre-Mortem & Failure Analysis

Conduct collaborative "what-if" simulations with team before coding begins:

· Run failure scenario workshops identifying system weaknesses early

· Document failure modes and remediation strategies

· Create runbooks for handling cascading failures in multi-instance deployments

· Reduce debugging effort 2x by identifying issues pre-production.

5. Security & Input Validation Testing

Ensure architecture is hardened against common attack vectors:

· Test JWT authentication flows and session management under load

· Validate input sanitization using Zod and similar frameworks

· Perform OWASP ZAP scans and security regression testing

· Test rate limiting, DDoS resilience, and API throttling mechanisms

Required Technical Expertise

Testing & QA Frameworks

· Unit/Integration Testing: Jest, Supertest, test doubles (mocks, stubs, spies)

· Load & Performance Testing: Apache JMeter

· Chaos Engineering: Chaos Monkey, Gremlin, fault injection patterns

· E2E Testing: Cypress, Playwright

Your Technology Stack

· Cloud Infrastructure: AWS

· Databases: MongoDB (aggregation pipelines, transactions, replication)

· Message Queues: BullMQ, Redis, queue failure scenarios

· Node.js/TypeScript: Service layer testing, async/await patterns, error handling

API & Integration Testing

· REST API Testing: Supertest, request/response validation

· Contract Testing: Pact, OpenAPI schema validation

· End-to-End Workflows: Order journey

· Third-Party Integration: Payment gateway, shipping APIs, webhook testing

Observability & Monitoring

· Metrics & Dashboards: Build and maintain quality and reliability dashboards that communicate system health and release readiness

· Logging & Analysis: CloudWatch, structured logging, log aggregation

· SLA Tracking: Uptime monitors, latency percentile analysis

Security Testing

· OWASP Top 10: OWASP ZAP, Burp Suite basics

· Authentication & Authorization: JWT validation, permission testing

· Input Validation: Payload fuzzing, injection testing, schema validation

· Rate Limiting & DDoS: Throttle testing, distributed attack simulation

Success Metrics (2x Confidence Proof)

Company Confidence

· Engineering teams rate "How confident are you in deploying this?" at 9.5+/10 consistently

· Zero system rework due to unforeseen test failures post-deployment

· Teams request your input before finalizing designs (not after)

Quality Metrics

· Escape Defects: 0 defects reach production (2x better than industry average)

· Defect Detection: 85%+ of bugs caught in testing (not production)

· Test Coverage: 80%+ system path coverage in critical flows

· MTTR Reduction: Mean time to resolution drops 50% through pre-identified failure modes

Deployment & Velocity

· Quality gates pass in <5 minutes, enabling 2x faster release cycles

· Deployment confidence score ≥95% before production pushes

· Zero rollbacks due to test suite gaps

· Team deploy with documented confidence, not blind hope

Cost Impact

· Reduce incident response costs by catching issues early (1:10 ratio early vs production)

· Eliminate expensive production debugging by 60%

· Reduce teams context-switching time by 40%

What Makes You "Awesome"

· You write tests that find bugs architects didn't anticipate

· Your load tests reveal architectural bottlenecks before they hit production

· You create realistic test data generators that simulate 10x Black Friday traffic patterns

· You speak systems language (trade-offs, failure modes, SLA targets)

· You proactively identify and document risks without being asked

· You turn test results into confidence scores that drive Edgistify's deployment decisions

Experience & Qualifications

Required

· 5+ years in QA, Test Engineering, or Quality Assurance roles

· 4+ years testing distributed systems or microservices architectures

· Strong hands-on experience with the frameworks listed above

· Demonstrated ability to identify risks through testing

· Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing at scale

· Portfolio or examples of comprehensive test suites you've built

Preferred

· Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or Order Management Systems (OMS)

· MongoDB or NoSQL testing experience

· Node.js/TypeScript backend testing background

· Chaos engineering or failure mode analysis experience

· Open-source contributions to testing frameworks or tools

Interview Process

1. Technical Screen (1 hour): Testing frameworks, architecture concepts, design trade-offs
2. Hands-On Test Design (2 hours): Design a comprehensive test suite for a given system
3. System Design Interview (1.5 hours): How would you build a production-like test setting?
4. Offer & Negotiation

Pay: ₹500,000.00 - ₹900,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
