Senior Product Designer
Company: Rymo Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
Location: Juinagar, Navi Mumbai, India
Industry: Robotic Medical Equipment
About Rymo:
Rymo Technology is building robotic solutions that help stroke survivors and individuals with movement impairments regain physical independence. We combine healthcare, robotics and gamification to deliver real-world clinical impact. As we scale globally, were building strong teams and systems to support rapid growth across functions.
Why This Role Exists:
Rymo's product roadmap is growing as we scale toward US and EU markets, and our mechanical vertical is expanding to match. This role is being created to give that vertical a single owner: someone who leads it end-to-end, keeps it moving in step with clinical, regulatory, software, and sales, and knows exactly what it takes to close out and launch a hardware product.
Role Overview:
This is the role that decides what Rymo's hardware actually feels like in someone's hands. You'll lead the mechanical vertical end-to-end and owning the schedule discipline that gets hardware out the door on time. Rymo's product direction is set collectively, by the founding team together with clinical, regulatory, software, and sales input, and it won't sit with any one function.
What will sit with you is being the sharpest voice for mechanical inside that process: clearing the bottlenecks that slow decisions down and then owning execution against the direction once it's set from first sketch to shipped part.
Key Responsibilities:
Design & Development
- Conceptualize and design the look, feel, and form of Rymo's products sketches, form studies, and surface development.
- Lead the team in translating that vision into detailed CAD and prototypes, and review their work against the intended design language.
- Select materials, finishes,
and surface treatments that balance a premium look and feel with manufacturability and long-term reliability, and apply DFM/DFA and GD&T; discipline at every handoff to keep rework low.
- Own a consistent industrial design language across the product line, so devices feel like a considered family rather than one-off builds.
Vertical & Launch Ownership
- Lead day-to-day design, documentation, and build priorities across the mechanical team, keeping their combined output aligned to launch milestones.
- Own the end-to-end product launch schedule, vendor-informed timelines from concept through production release and build the launch tracker / stage-gate process.
- Proactively track and de-risk vendor coordination, component lead times, and testing/validation windows and lead right-component and vendor qualification decisions.
- Identify and mitigate program and process risk, including pFMEA, ahead of prototype builds rather than after issues surface.
- Act as the primary point of contact between mechanical and the clinical, regulatory, software, and sales stakeholders surfacing and clearing bottlenecks.
- Ensure product decisions and documentation align with ISO 13485 and other relevant regulatory frameworks, and support validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) at a plan and review level.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering plus a Master's or PG Diploma in Industrial Design / Product Design or equivalent.
- Hands-on industrial design craft: able to sketch,
develop form studies, and make surface/material/finish decisions personally.
- 6-9+ years of experience, with a track record of taking physical products from concept through actual market launch not just through the design phase.
- Demonstrated program ownership: has personally built and held a hardware launch schedule, including vendor coordination and component lead-time management, and can speak to what went wrong when it didn't.
- Robust CAD fluency (SolidWorks, Fusion360, or similar).
- Working knowledge of DFM/DFA, GD&T;, pFMEA, and validation protocol/report creation (IQ/OQ/PQ) sufficient to review and sign off on others' work.
- A portfolio of shipped physical products that demonstrates your own hand in the design sketches, form development, or finish decisions you personally authored not just rendering quality or process management. Please include this with your application.
- Communication: comfortable making and defending trade-off calls under ambiguity, directing the work of peers without formal authority over them, and art-directing interns/junior designers toward a consistent design vision.
- Cross-functional fluency: experience working alongside clinical, regulatory, software, and sales stakeholders to unblock decisions without needing to own those decisions outright.
Nice to Have
- Medical device product development or manufacturing experience, with a working understanding of FDA, ICH, and IEC standards.
- Background from a Biodesign-style needs-finding and product development training.
- Experience in consumer hardware, wearables, or robotics where finish quality and time-to-market were both under direct personal ownership.
