The IP/MPLS Routing & Data Networking Designer is responsible for the design, engineering, configuration strategy, and implementation support of IP/MPLS-based communication networks for railway, transportation, metro, Semi high speed and High-speed rail Projects and critical infrastructure projects that involves supporting the FRMC S5G Radio System backbone. The role involves developing network architectures, routing designs, redundancy schemes, cybersecurity-compliant solutions, and technical documentation to ensure high availability, scalability, and reliability of operational and enterprise communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Engineering
Develop end-to-end IP/MPLS network architectures for railway and infrastructure projects.
Design Layer 2 and Layer 3 network topologies including:
Core networks
Distribution networks
Access networks
Data center connectivity
Prepare routing and switching designs using industry best practices.
Design high-availability and resilient network solutions with redundancy mechanisms.
IP/MPLS & Routing Design
Design and document:
MPLS
MPLS-TP
Segment Routing (SR-MPLS) (where applicable)
VPN services (L2VPN/L3VPN)
Configure and validate routing protocols:
OSPF
IS-IS
BGP
Static Routing
Develop QoS strategies for mission-critical applications.
Define traffic engineering and bandwidth management requirements.
Data Networking
Design Ethernet-based communication systems.
Define VLAN, VRF, subnetting, and IP addressing plans.
Develop network segmentation and security zoning.
Ensure integration of telecom subsystems such as:
SCADA
CCTV
PA/PIDS
AFC
Signalling systems
Data centres
