About the Role We're looking for an SEO Lead to own and scale organic growth for upGrad's International business across multiple global markets. This role goes beyond traditional SEO—you'll lead the strategy across Technical SEO, International SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) to maximize our visibility across Google Search, AI-powered search experiences, and leading LLM platforms.

You'll be responsible for building a scalable global search strategy for a multi-country website, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Content, and Regional Marketing teams to drive qualified traffic, leads, and revenue.

What You'll Do Drive Global Organic Growth • Own the global SEO roadmap across all international markets.

- Develop market-specific keyword, content, and localization strategies to grow organic traffic and conversions.
- Identify new growth opportunities through search trends, competitive analysis, and AI search evolution. Lead Technical & International SEO • Own technical SEO for our multi-country website, including hreflang, canonicalization, crawl optimization, indexing, internal linking, XML sitemaps, and site architecture.
- Resolve duplicate-content and keyword cannibalization across countryspecific pages.
- Partner with Engineering on Core Web Vitals, JavaScript SEO, site migrations,



and new feature launches while protecting organic performance.

Build the Future of Search (AEO & GEO) • Develop strategies to improve visibility across Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, and other AI search platforms.

- Scale structured data, entity optimization, and answer-focused content to increase citations and AI-generated visibility.
- Establish KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure AI search performance. Content & Authority • Work with Content and Regional Marketing teams to create high-impact, search-led content.
- Drive digital PR, backlink acquisition, and E-E-A-T initiatives to strengthen domain authority and rankings. Analytics & Leadership • Own SEO performance reporting across traffic, rankings, AI visibility, leads, and revenue.
- Build executive dashboards using GA4, Google Search Console, and leading SEO platforms.
- Mentor SEO team members and agency partners while influencing Product and Engineering roadmaps.

What We're Looking For • 8–12 years of hands-on SEO experience with strong expertise in scaling organic growth for global or multi-market businesses.

- Deep understanding of Technical SEO and International SEO, including hreflang, canonicalization, crawl management, and indexation.
- Proven experience driving organic growth across large websites with measurable business impact.
- Practical experience with AEO, GEO, structured data, AI search optimization, and modern search ecosystems.
- Robust command of tools such as Google Search Console, GA4, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Semrush, and technical auditing tools.
- Experience leading large website migrations or technical SEO projects without compromising organic performance.
